The fact that you are asking that question is just laughable. Please don't turn into an AI cultist and look at the facts. These kind of gaslighting comments make no sense here where we have access to so much information.

"We will see the same avalanche of discoveries in physics, chemistry, biology etc. soon." - and none of those will do anything to make AI profitable after literal trillions were put into it and more trillions are needed in the near and far future. that's the crux of the problem.

We can talk about scientific discoveries and how awesome they are, it don't change the fact that those controlling the AI are looking at this from a business standpoint, not as a charity for the world.

Something like the manhattan project or Apollo program were ludicrously expensive but they supercharged the development of a lot of different fields and were government funded without a requirement for financial return. AI is pumping money into one technology hoping that it will be profitable in the long term.

"profitable in the long term" - Nobody is denying this, it's how we get there that's the problem. The profitability will come after a collapse of the job market and the cannibalisation of the majority of AI companies. All the wealth will accumulate in the hands of a few and absolutely nobody has a solution for the job market.

The Apollo program didn't destroy 50% of the entry job positions in tech in just a few years. Or are you saying it did?
