The RAM crisis is resurrecting DDR4 memory and motherboard production as hardware cycle reverses

Consoles are affected big time too.

PS5 uses 7 year old mid-end hardware, sells at 700-800 dollars, PS5 Pro sells at 900-1000 dollars.

And best of all, these dated consoles will run GTA 6 at up to 30 fps. PS6 delayed.

Xbox consoles, literally EoL and dead.
Switch 2, price hike.
Steam Machine and Frame, price hike and massive delay. Deck, price hike.

Dat console life. With paid multiplayer and cloudsaves + expensive games/subs.
The Steam deck and Steam Machine are PC's, using PC hardware, so you could install Windows if you wanted to.
PC hardware has been affected by significant price hikes as well, as much as some wish for consoles to die off, they're more accessible than a PC is thanks to the AI scam which no company but Nvidia is profiting from, yet the money keeps getting passed around, and probably will be at the expense of taxpayers to keep the AI grift going.

And? They ship with Linux because its free and because low-end hardware actually performs slightly better in some games on a stripped and tweaked Arch install, which SteamOS uses now. Steam Deck performs overall slightly worse in Windows (but will play alot more games from the Steam catalog here = All)

AI don't make companies money? BS, pure BS. You know nothing about this. Why do you think they keep investing in AI, year after year after year. You don't think there is a plan? Hahah!

The Steam Deck and Steam Machine ship with Linux because Valve has put a ton of effort into getting gaming to become an enjoyable experience.
Linux is better than Windows for games at this point unless you care about the AAA SaSS live service garbage that requires kernel level anti-cheats which honestly shouldn't be trusted, but mega corporations refuse to put in the effort to have server sided anti-cheats.
And the Steam Deck plays about any game you'd want to on a handheld device, I personally don't see the point of wanting Windows on it.

AI isn't making money at all, except for Nvidia, it's a massive scam of circular investing on the promise of it doing something someday, of course the investors want in when it's still a bubble. There doesn't seem to be any plan but build datacenters as fast as they can before someone figures out there isn't any money in it and before the investors and VC's get tired of throwing money into a pit.
Nvidia is the only one profiting from it, Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Meta, Open AI, are losing billions on the promises that can never be made true on a bunch of LLMs.

You are clueless. Linux is better for gaming, hahahahahah. Joke of the decade. How come all serious PC gamers, streamers, pro gamers, continue to run Windows? Windows has 94% marketshare on Steam. Linux dropped 0.5% last quarter on Steam. Most come rushing back to Windows or own several devices with their primary PC running Windows.

All new games, all new hardware, have 1 focus: Windows. Nvidia/AMD/Intel don't give a shite about Linux support on their consumer stuff. Driver focus is Windows only.

Same with game developers. They optimize the game for Windows and don't give a shite if their game is not working in Linux. Might work, with reduced perf in most cases (Proton layer eats 5-25% perf on average) but not guarranteed to work, AT ALL.

Linux is worse for gaming and all new games are made to work on Windows, hence why the game requirements says Windows 10/11 is needed. Only a small catalog of Steam runs on Linux, hence the Steam Deck verification on games, meanwhile 100% of the catalog will run on Windows, guarranteed to work and run well.

Steam Deck is ultra low-end hardware, most plays old games and indies on it. New demanding games runs like craaap on it. How do I know? Had a Steam Deck OLED. Used it for emulation mostly, sold it due to collecting dust.

AI is making company in our company, let me guess, you have no job? You are one of those people that completely missed out on making money on AI, I am sure. Made millions myself in the last 5-10 years on AI, tech and crypto.

Now you complain, because you can't afford hardware.
The AI race will continue for 5-10 years still. Mark my words. This is very early days of AI. Agentic AI is the next milestone and we need way more computing power and energy for this. This is what companies are actually gearing up to.
