Top 10 Best MMOs

I have played most of these, and still do of and on.

But we are in bad need of a couple new ones.
Nothing recently has really stood out imo

Pay-to-win just completely ruins games for me. Why farm in-game money when you can just buy it with real money? Makes it pointless.

'Black Desert Online' looks interesting, but I guess its pay to win? Sad.

Hopefully, Amazon's New World would turn out to be a good game. I really liked the beta but felt like it didn't have much content and the quests were extremely repetitive.

Instead of "graphics: beautiful" the author should state "platforms: PC, Mac, PS4,Xbox, Nintendo Switch"

I was happy to see RuneScape here. However, while it isn't pay-to-win by any stretch of the imagination, it is not true that things you can buy for cash (in RS3) are only cosmetics. You can buy Treasure Hunter keys for cash, for example, and some of the prizes you get with those are valuable in gameplay.

Go kill 7 wolves then come b no ty alt f4. Been there, done that. However Black Desert is a sight to see.

Good point - when you can buy in-game money/items for real money, you have to weigh up how much your time is worth if you were to grind for them, versus just paying upfront and saving yourself X hours.

Another Asheron's Call fan here. A great game, with an awesome storyline and play mechanics. Was really bummed when they pulled the plug on it.

I was an avid fan of Aion for a long while. I was one of the few that picked Spiritmaster class and stuck with it when the game launched (I even participated in the Alpha and Beta for the game). It was the most under powered class when the game launched and everyone that tried it didn't like it much....Once NCSoft resolved the class issues of being under powered, they became one of the most powerful classes when I last played it.

I could solo against 3 other players, keeping them taunted, feared, dishing out DOT and kiting the crap out of them. It was great fun.

Then NCSoft started shifting the game from having to earn things (grinding/group hunting) to fast leveling and basically throwing top end weapons/armors at you to get to end level faster. Then it turned free to play and while you get all the game without paying, you always have that carrot dangling in front of your face with chests/boxes you find, but need a key from the pay store to open and so on. I stopped playing the game after it turned free to play, just wasn't the same.

Asherons Call was great. I miss those late 90s early 2000 mmo.

I'm also surprised so few people remember Dark Age Of Camelot.

MEH they're all pay multi online games where's the offline single player MMO's also Skyrim SE + Mods is probably way better than cashrim online

No EverQuest? And how about MU Online? And Ultima Online!

And thank goodness Evony isn't on here... that game is like crack...
Yes on Evony being like crack haha, I remember joining there when it was called Civony & had one server. They had to change the name because of threatened legal issues with Sid Meier I believe. Last time I played was several years ago after a long absence only to discover everyone using bots to play. It was impossible to play without one so I quit for good, this was the original Evony not the follow up they brought out in order to squeeze out more cash from those "crack" addicted players

No World of Tanks? Its been around since 2011, had numerous awards, has a Guiness Book of Records record, and its game play is nothing like the above games, and the graphics look real good. Steve from Hardware Unboxed often uses it with some of his testing. Hi Steve. The player base can be questionable sometimes though.

I played Civony... and played on after it flipped to Evony... at one point, I had to run 80+ accounts (all on bots) just to feed my main account... realized it was killing me - and my marriage - and quit cold turkey.

When Covid hit, I logged into my old account to say “hi” but it was all bots...

This is the first time I've heard anything positive about Black Desert Online. From what I've heard, it exemplifies pay-to-win mechanics.
