Toshiba M200 memory upgrade

Hi I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro M200 I have 2GB (2x1GB) memory and wanted to increase to 3GB (1x1GB + 1x2GB) both rams operate fine independently but if I add more than 2GB memory I get a blank screen, the system is operating but the screen is blank from what I understand the M200 will take up to 4GB. Any ideas

more than likely the limit is 1gb per each bank.

Hi Tedster thanks for your reply would sound logical however the system will boot up with 2GB ram in one bank its when I put the 1GB in the second bank that the problem arises. Would it be worth adding another 2GB into the second bank, I am thinking your suggestion may be something to consider however I have since had confirmation that this model will take 4GB max.
