Trump wants to use couriers for important messages because "no computer is safe"

Now, that is an ignorant. In fact computers can be even more secure than physical messages. But the world is full of dumb people, so it's right to have a dumb president.

I guess.

You really telling me that data traveling through the air whether encrypted or not is more secure than a person carrying a physical envelope? Really??? And you call the President to be, dumb? HAHAHAHAHA

ROFL...Rob Thubron thinks that all you have to do is UPGRADE SECURITY.

How the heck, does this guy have a job writing tech, when he clearly doesn't understand anything. LOL...what a DUMMY.

BTW...from the looks of Rob Thubron who wears a beanie and a hoodie to work, LOL...what a *******. There is a reason why Trump is President and it's because of Obama's 8 years of failure and this hoodie-beanie wearing blog writer thinks he knows better than a billionaire who has an empire. LOL...what a snowflake.

Really, and why then are so many hacked every day asked the tech to the end user.......

We should of course all remember what happened to Gen. R.E. Lee at Antietam: the message and Battle Plan was wrapped around a pack of ceegars -- unfortunately the courier dropped the ceegars and they were recovered by the Bears

use a secure o/s and learn to use GPG.

So after snowden talked with the russians, the russians bought a ton of typewriters. Then the chinese decided to build their own computers. trump talks about couriers, that are already used in great numbers for banking and other areas and he is dumb? not in my book, but the snowflakes these days will believe ANYTHING.

Someone will find a way to put a mist net up in front of that carrier pigeon...
As late as WW1 they were still using pigeons for top secret messages even though the telegraph was available but even back then hackers existed. They reckoned the pigeons were a better and safer bet for not having the messages intercepted.
With today's high tech, 2096 bit encrypted messaging and what we've all become accustomed to, who'd think of looking up in the skies and suspect a little old bird of being a carrier of valuable info?

Attache, 45, Chain, Marine.
How many Marines do you know who would be happy being a glorified bicycle messenger?
How many Marines do you know who have the luxury of having feelings about their orders? Furthermore, it is logical to assume that a Marine is happy to do his duty to his country in whatever capacity otherwise a Marine he would have never become.

Marines do what they are told to do. They aren't asked if they need a puppy or a safe space. What do you think about that, snowflake?
I don't question that they would carry out the order. I do question whether they would stay in the corps after being assigned to that for a few years; they aren't conscribed for life. Seems like a waste of talent and training dollars.

Well I guess you could have an Air Force clerk do it. HA HA HA

In both WW I & II, the underground used carrier pigeons - - should we ...

That's politics for you. Talk a lot and say nothing. He's absolutely right about no computer being safe though. Maybe he'll place his trust in carrier pigeons for his top secret communications.
Actually, a well encrypted message sent by courier is not a bad way to go. It could also be sent by snail mail for that matter with the proper mechanisms (I could think of one way right now). Of course, no system is absolutely secure if you have a "spy" or "one who could be blackmailed" or even a traitor who is in the chain - especially one who is high up in the chain of command in a position of considerable trust.

... Actually, a well encrypted message sent by courier is not a bad way to go.....
I forgot to include that not every "classified" message carries a "top secret" classification. You could rely on a courier only for the most secretive messages, which are not going to be an everyday occurrence. Most messages have a short life span.

Every thing Trump says is Gold.
Yeah, gold crap. A courier will be no more safe than a computer. Trump has just raised the stakes to life and death for his couriers.

I am not sure who is the bigger fool. Trump, for thinking that any communication can be totally secure, or those who believe everything he says.
He never said they can be totally secure. Just that they could be safer via courier. For one thing, you need to know who is the courier vs an internet connection going through the other country's "secure" servers" (or being tracked intercepting satellite transmissions). As I stated in another reply, if one of the people in the chain of command is a spy, traitor, etc., then no system is safe.

Both points are, in fact, correct.

1. Rob is liberal. If he's not, I'm sure he can correct the record.

2. This article tells a blatant, provable lie. See the video posted above.

These journos who cover Trump are dishonest. This has been proven again and again since he announced in 2015. Everything that comes out of the mouths or past their editors, is verifiably false. Just like this article.

I know you #NeverTrump and #NotMyPresident folks think you're taking some type of moral stand defending obvious deceptions, but you aren't. There are plenty of reasons to not like Donald Trump. Defending dishonest "journalists" isn't a winning strategy. Look how intelligent these guys are:

Now... on to a serious bit of site feedback.

This Rob fellow, who also seems to have a background writing clickbait, is not doing you guys (TechSpot owner(s) and staff) any favors.

Here's the line from the AP article he's using as a source. I've bolded the important part.

Trump says he rarely uses email or computers, despite his frequent tweeting.

He told reporters during his annual New Year's party Saturday night that he believes in writing out important messages and having it delivered by courier.

This is arguably a reasonable take on what Trump said at the event. I think we can agree with that.

Now, here's what Rob opens with. Again, important part in bold:

Speaking last week about the Russian hacking incidents, the Republican blamed computers for complicating people’s lives. Now, he’s suggested a method of keeping sensitive government information safe: stop using computers and send messages via human couriers.

He didn't say that. The AP didn't report that he said that. Yet, there it is.

If you don't reign this guy in, he's going to cost you traffic and a very big chunk of growth. I know we give some of the writers a hard time over a sloppy a comment every now and then or being too favorable to manufacturer X, Y or Z, but this guy's approach to reporting is going to damage your brand.

BTW, even a message sent by courier is going to be encrypted. Any fool would understand that.

Yes, I am. And yes, data is more secure. Study first, speak after, not the other way around.
