Turn off XP Recent Documents & History?

on XP SP2 Is there any way to turn off the recent documents feature that keeps putting shortcuts to my recently viewed files into this folder..??
C:\Documents and Settings\%UserName%\Recent

And is there anyway to turn off the History feature as well that keeps logs in this folder..??
C:\Documents and Settings\%UserName%\Local Settings\History

Disable Recent Documents History:

Set History to 0 days:
Internet Options> General tab> History section> Days to keep pages in History> set to 0> Apply> OK.
