UK government developing homicide prediction algorithm to identify potential violent offenders

Weird, as a UK citizen, I think it's fairly pleasant here and the dystopian nightmare is on the other side of the pond. I can express my beliefs without fear of being jailed or sacked or shot. I wouldn't be in fear of losing my job just because I was black or gay or voted the wrong way. I can walk the streets at night in London and feel perfectly safe, and I certainly don't need a gun to "protect" my home.

Crime does happen here though. It would seem fairly straight forward to see if people with a history of violent crime are associating with people who have a history of abuse. If you then tie that to whether they're having money issues (or drug issues) then it's a simple recipe for potential future problems. That's not to say they should be arrested but it might be worth a social worker visiting and seeing if they need help.

I'll admit in my time that I have known 2 people who committed murder. One guy probably wouldn't of shown up on such a detection system but the other one almost certainly would.

I take it you are politically left leaning. Anyone that post something right off center ends up with the cops on their door step. Half the time, charges are filed. The UK is nowhere near being in a good place. You shouldn't believe the MSM. The US under Trump is about as free as it gets and getting better by the day. He believes in removing criminal Migrants. No Minority report algorithm is going to end well.

Only if you are on the left.

"an automated system could predict potential dissidents", I think it goes more that way than anything else. Technocracy has just one goal : secure the control of society.

The CPS (Crown Prosecution Service) is there to decide which criminal cases to prosecute. If you're finding them fanatical then perhaps it's just you doing something wrong.
In this case I meant Child Protective Services.

The CPS are too busy prosecuting memes to actually do something about crime. The UK is a tyranny. When will Iraq, Afghanistan, Lybia, Syria, Iran, etc. bring freedom to the country from 30 thousand feet?

I'm not sure if that's giving better optics.

I'd agree that the wars against these countries have been foolish, particularly from a moral perspective, but I'd of thought Israel and America would be more at fault. When America was our closest ally then we had to follow suit though I doubt that applies now.

Forget Minority Report, Big Brother is already here! Cameras everywhere; I have electrical tape over my laptop's camera. How many people use Smartphones as video phones? Just because they are supposed to be secure, does not mean they are.

Is there really any expectation of privacy, even in one's own home? Alexia, etc. Your phone has a log of calls received, and who called.

All that lacks (if it even does) is the will to snoop. True, with many millions in the USA alone, it is a monumental task; yet, with both AI & quantum computing, maybe not so much as one might suppose.
