Unable To Connect To Hotspot

I am trying to connect my tablet to a hotspot from an android phone. It has always worked but suddenly the tablet won't connect to the internet. I am unable to play a game. The phone's hotspot showed up on my tablet when the wifi is turned on but now it is no longer there. Once it does appear and I manage to get connected it disappears. What could be the problem? The hotspot data has been used up on the phone vut we were told that when this happens the connection would run extremely slow. Can this be the problem?

First make sure the phone connection gives reliable Internet.
