United Airlines may now remove passengers who play audio without headphones

Good. Keep personal devices personal. Nothing is worse than that one person having a voice call in the middle of the room on speaker or their kid watching cartoons at a restaurant with the sound on full blast.

Next they need to ban the ones that are out on the hiking trail on full blast.

What the heck is wrong with people? Its a me me me me world. I dont care if you want to use your device, but you listen to it, I dont want to.

Id even compare it to smokers forcing non smokers to breath their toxic air. There should be laws against it.

I think this became much worse after the industry did away with wired headphones/earphones on mobile devices. Many non-tech savvy people, especially older generations, have difficulties dealing with BT devices and/or keep losing wireless phones so they just say screw it.

No one said they don't exist. However to add insult to injury, where I live there are also lots of older and elderly people blasting old folk, country and gospel music, or just watching podcast-style videos or newscasts (I've even seen elderly ladies watching cooking recipe and sewing videos) at full blast volume, which can be nearly as annoying. Also kids watching cartoons.

The youths blasting gangster music are an older problem, that has existed even since before phones with portable radios and boomboxes. And many of them also have trouble handling and managing wireless bt stuff. But especially for other demographics, I notice the problem definitely became worse after the industry phased out wired headphone jacks in mobile devices.

Reminds me of the legend where people were being pushy and dangerous in lines for public transport and the Russian government installed LMG turrets and soldiers at stations and within the week all of the country was polite and well mannered in public again.

its the same for protesting. go ahead and protest, but dont be on public roadways. we need more water cannons. a few times and I dont think people would be blocking traffic
