I noticed that the game runs in DIRECT3D is htis the only option.....i think thats why it sucks for me.

I would recommend disabling vsync for the purpose of benchmarking (if not available through the CP through the 30.82 drivers, use tools such as NVMax and NVHardPage). For the tests above no AA or AF was used.

Download the game patch if you haven't done so already.

Yeah I have the patch, although it still runs crap. I thought my system would be able to run it beautifully.

I have even tried overclocking stuff. Is it the fact that it runs in Direct3d? It wouldnt be the CPU would it?

You can run it in OpenGl - just edit your UT2.ini file removing the rem command ";" from OpenGl device and adding one to your D3D device.

u will find that the Benchmark is inconsistant, the results change evern without a restart. I use Opengl 2 Papa i dont know if its faster but its always better looking. I have an Geforce3 at 230 530 i got With direct 3d got

though i suspect its all different with opengl.

I must admit, this little demo is growing on me.

I think you really do need a good, new graphics card like a Geforce 3 or 4 or at least a high end Geforce 2 Ultra or something to really see it for what it is.... But it is nice.

If I have any criticism its that both the weapons and the players all look a little too similar.

I guess I will probably buy the final full version of the game if I happen to have money for games at that point....

.....Actually, I have just played it on Duron 1100 with 32MB TNT2Pro card.... it was certainly perfectly playable, albeit at some fairly crappy resolutions....

Do u not think that the players legs dont evern nearly correspond with the direction there moving in, they look like there being dragged about and legs just walk in same direction there were moving couple of secs ago. Nice graphics, Sounds nice and i can find servers in about 10secs of loading game (sweet) Im on 56k no need for Cable unless u wanna DL movies, games and Music. We have to see the graphics now in the realgame.

* Textures in the full game are, on average, 2X higher resolution
than in the demo. The textures in the demo were reduced because
of download size limitations.

Wow all those peeps with GF2 are gonna suffer!

The weapons are almost pretty much 'improved' over the old UT variants, though I don't give two rats behinds on that. :p The good ol' UT gameplay is what I care for. :)

Quick test: (P3-1000, GF2 Pro 64mb), 1024x768x32

dm-antalus
5.196257 / 31.615826 / 104.676308 fps
Score = 31.630854

dm-asbestos

Score = 40.044926

@max. details, 2x anisotropy

Obviously, lowering some details could help out there, but in reality I only average around 25-32fps on that machine. =O

Wow, I can't stop playing this, either at home or at work. Help me, I have an assignment to finish!!@!@:>£>!

It doesn't run on the main machine (some problem with Windows 2000 server I think) so I've had to consign myself to another box with lesser specs, but its encouraging me to go for a video card upgrade to make the game run better.

o.O Tried running it over Pro? Though I haven't tested the demo itself over Win2K Server, anything Unreal-based never gave me a prob over Win2K AS. And GF3 Ti 200's are much less than $100 now; nice bargain for a second machine.

BTW, seeing as it was kinda empty last night, the a3D UT2k3 server is up and running 24/7... feel free to come in at any time.

When I try to run it on my win2k server box I get this:

Critical Error

UT2003 Build UT2003_Build_[2002-09-16_05.17]

OS: Windows 2000 5.0 (Build: 2195)
CPU: AuthenticAMD PentiumPro-class processor @ 1331 MHz with 511MB RAM
Video: NVIDIA GeForce2 Ultra (2942)

Assertion failed: RenDev [File:WinViewport.cpp] [Line: 536]

History: UWindowsViewport::OpenWindow <- UGameEngine::Init <- InitEngine

To be fair, I have not really looked into the problem so far as I have other machines I can play this on. However to host a game I shall have to get it running on the server so it would be nice to make it so.

When I run Unreal Tournament on Win2k server it will run in a window but not full screen. Any attempts to get it to run full screen merely results in it returning to the window.... Any ideas?

Again I have not given this appropriate attention... I am sure that there is a good solution.... But I have not bothered.... However if anyone knows anything please let me know....

Hey Phantasm - runs fine for me on Win2K Server - I play it on that and WinXP Pro. Maybe try upgrading video drivers to 30.82? I haven't had any probs with it at all. In fact, I haven't had any probs with anything Unreal Tournament related on 2K Server in fullscreen. I have seen one thing cause a problem with UT running full screen though. Have anything installed from NetSupport?

I just downloaded the demo, and because I have 28k, it took me quite a long time ;) At least 4 days.

This game is awesome...really. I have played no better FPS. Plus, I'm really good at it :D Instagib is very fun, especially at the hardest difficulty level. The bots are like the enemy sniper in Enemy at the Gates...one millisecond I'm running and the next I'm dead ;) But hey, "life is pain, so get over it" ;)

Anyway, I have one burning question...I heard Phant on like 3 occasions say M O N S T E R K I L L ! !, but I've never gotten one...How exactly do I get it? Frag a guy in mid-air with a Shock Core (done that)? Kill two guys with one rocket (done that)? If it involves the superweapons I guess I'm out of luck...

I would play you all multiplayer, but I'm OofL w/ my 28k. It's not that I'm scared...trust me ;)

Well nevermind! I was playing Instagib w/ 16 bots on a map. I now know what Monster Kill, Ludicrous, and the next step up from there is ;) Good times.

Man, you guys are gettings awfully low scores.

Although I haven't turned the FPS display on, I run it at 1600x1200, with every graphic setting maxed out, and not once have I gotten one bit of slowdown. Not in the most hectic of flag runs! I'll post my FPS scores 'soon as I boot it up again...now I need sleep.

And yes, the Nostromo n50 Speedpad kicks absolute *** with this game. I'm still looking for a good key layout, though.
