Updates and NO Sound

Yup. Updates snuck up on me and stole my sound... Not as bad as last time (which I solved by plugging in earphones and removing speakers). This time it set sound level to nothing somehow. Used "troubleshoot" (right click speakers icon) and 'restored to default'..then I turned sound down to nothing and then back up --- hey, I could hear again!

Anyone else have this happen?
