Go CAD-box, that PC looks like it needs some TLC and an upgrade is a good reason to give it some. Not to mention the upgrade would be quite significant.

Tough call here. Both the CAD Box and the Silver Shadow are dual-purpose, and in desperate need of upgrades. Not ashamed to admit that it was the nostalgia of that old aluminum Cooler Master case that swayed my vote. Best of luck to everyone!

In my book, all of these systems deserve an upgrade. But, some more than others... Will have to go with Dakota's "Silver Shadow". For his uses, that CPU just isn't cutting it.

Please note we aren't looking for the worst computers to upgrade. We are really after mid-range type systems that are a little out of date. The problem with potatoes is that people will just grab crappy PCs and enter them, the second being that you can't actually upgrade old PCs with new parts. You're basically building a new PC at that point and this isn't Build Me A New PC Please!

I agree what your saying to a point though, you basically suggested to every build a new mobo/cpu/ram combo at witch thats pretty much building core of a new PC

Gonna have to toss my vote in for the CAD Box here, was a really tight decision between it and Silver Shadow, but the memories of slow school computers taking a minute to just save Word documents... Can't even begin to imagine what it'd be like to handle CAD work on that relic. This video was a real gem, can't wait to see the results!
