Hi Tmagic,
Yes I have a joystick for flightsim, a wireless mouse, a netgear wireless adaptor and my keyboard, the keyboard and wireless mouse are new, and this bsod has been going on for - well a couple of years now, (various bsod's but ive always thought this one was down to my wireless adaptor as thats the only thing thats been present all this time)
New drivers were installed recently, but I uninstalled them and used xp to configure it to try rule out a driver issue.
Many thanks for your assistance.
I can give you a couple more bsod dumps if they may assist this?

Regards
Paul

To add, ive done as much testing as I can, this is all stock with no o/c, ram is new and been thorouhly tested several times, singurarly and in different slots, temps are 31/37 core0 core1 respectively (using core temp and not realtemp) , defrag gets done every week, avg is updated before a scan last thing at night, I have changed the psu 7/8 months ago, but havent checked for enough volts yet.

Kind regards
Paul

Stop defragging! It is not necessary and it wears out hard drives prematurely... Remove AVG and go with free Microsoft Security Essentials. There's a neater and easier way to post minidumps. Go to C:\windows\minidump. Minidump files have a .dmp extension. Select all files with a .dmp extension. Right-click and select "send to a compressed (zipped) folder" and upload that folder here. It looks like the hard drive may have issues (Excessive degragging?) Set a disk check on the next start up by going to computer and right-click on the C drive. Select properties, tools, check now. Check both boxes to perform a disk check on the next start up

Hi T,
When I said weeky, thats was a pretty conservative estimate, but yh I guess once every 3 weeks depending on what fliht sim software was being installed, but I acknowledge it may be still too much.
avg is out and essentials is in, thanks for that.

My minidump folder is always empty even the the checkbox is "checked"(ticked) hence the reason why I am using bluescreenviewer and using eventviewer in windows itself

(write an event to the system log - checked)
(send an administartive alert - checked)
(auto restart - checked)
small memory dump(64kb)
%SystemRoot%\Minidump

For your information, - I have installed the 3gb switch for xp fsx to read 3gb of ram (that was yesterday just prior to seeking help here).

Also, every so often when the pc crashes and doesnt reboot it appears as if I get a clicking from my motherboard itself - not to be confused with long/short beeps, it IS more like a clicking sound.

This system is moe than 6 years old.
Regards
Pau

Hi,
I cant see where I can edit the last post, but here goes

I have just had 4 bsod's in a row,
another irql not less or equal,
A pfn list corrupt (this came when trying to get windows security essentials updated as it wouldnt let me go on the net or that)
a page fault in a non paged area, - which automatically done a chkdsk - most details were recovering orphaned files.

it now appears as if my minidump is working!!!!

Alright, good job :) It is much easier to sort out minidumps this way here. The info is much more precise and straight forward. Looks like an Nvidia video driver is causing trouble and instability. Do you have an old Nvidia video card or are you running on-board video with a motherboard with a Nvidia chipset? I use Bluescreenview to decode the minidumps, but this way doesn't give me all the verbose waste

Hi T,
Thanks, currently im running an nvidia 8600gts, with driver 301.42, but ive just rolled back to 296.10, but I remember getting nv4 crashes even with that one, I think I had them with 295.73 also.

I also remember having a bsod with the smaxpnp, which I thought I had uninstalled ages ago, but apparently not, even though it was not in add/remove prorams - so ive reinstalled that, so heres hoping.
I have also started to use bluescreenviewer so I could try decode(or even get the snapshot of codes etc etc.)
Im sure this wont be the last of it.
Once again, many many thanks
Paul

to add, heres another recent bsod

Ive posted this image as im not sure how to send eventviewer info in zipped format, this gives you an idea of what its like on a daiy basis, and yet ive not been playing with my pc today much (father of 3 yr old daughter, who will be in bed VERY shortly).-2012-aug-27-004.jpg-2012-aug-27-005.jpg

Lol T, now you have got me worried, looks like my rig aint gonna last till after the new year, hopefully I wont see any, but ill have a look just now.
Acrtually ive got a couple of screenshots I'd like to share,
Ive tried zipping and posting, but im getting an error saying zipfile is too large. I believe these are pc errors and not fsx errors.
my apologies if im not adhering to the rules.

Ok, having had a look, all seems to be ok, mobo, sound card and graphics card, there are a couple of them leaning to the side slightly, but having worked building pcb's I know this to be kind of normal having been shaken just before being wave soldered.

Thanks,

Its an asus p5n32esli, with ddr2 xms2 6400c5 ram - I knew - abeit after I bought the rig that there were quite alot of ram incompatibiities, but fortunately I chose ram that was on the QVL.
I do have another notepad list of errors, - some of which I know to be low voltage when overclocking, I kind of know thats whats causing errors at that precise time.
I knew that was my next/last step, was a complete reinstall of windows, - last year I ot a dude to reinstall xp, and he hasn't returned my windows disc OR product key, so at the moment thats a no o, I was assured over 3 weeks ago he would replace them a.s.a.p, but as yet im waiting.

Looks like I aint gonna be flyin or using my pc except for internet use till january, I need to get xmas over with first before, as a new rig is going to set me back around 1300gbp.
As previously stated I appreciate all your hard work in all the assistance you have gave me and if I could buy you a few drinks I would.

Kindest regards
Paul
EDIT: to add no I haven't tried xp repair
