Utah governor blames "cancer" social media for assassinations, including Charlie Kirk shooting

The degenerate left and extreme radical left wing whimpering woke liberal brats have been doing this for nearly a decade. ABC, MSNBC, CBS, The Politico, The Independent, NPR, The Hill, everything and anything META including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter before Elon straightened it out, Blue Sky, and most journalist outposts and media are all complicit in promoting violence and hate against anyone who disagrees with them. Countless moderators from various platforms including this site have also engaged in this activity, allowing nasty liberal comments against Trump and others to stay while deleting posts like mine that call them out.

Your all exactly what I've been saying for several years on this site, which is programmed liberal babies who cannot handle others opinions, especially when they are grounded in inconvenient and uncomfortable truth. You have just ingited a firestorm and helped millions of voters leave the Democrat party. Its time to pay the piper you entitled leftwing babies.

Enjoy the next several elections of Republicans winning. Its all thanks to spoiled degenerates like you who got brainwashed into thinking its okay for grown men to follow little girls into bathrooms. Tell me how smart you are again!
"The left" had nothing to do with this whole situation, yet here you are, assessing blame to people not involved in any way.

-Before social media the only people that would have been exposed to the rant above is anyone unfortunate enough to know amstech in real life.

Now, there is a whole world of people that get to hear this nonsense.

An almost perfect demonstration of the ills of democratizing and comodifying the control of information in society.

While the gentleman is a bit over the top, I'm not sure where you get the idea it's nonsense. The list of the media and social networks perpetrating lies and half truths has been going on since 2016. That's when the idea of presenting both sides and telling the truth was jettisoned over the need to stop the danger of a madman running the country. No lie or no exaggeration was off limits in such desperate times.

Once you convince yourself that, facts don't matter, only the goal because of the danger. Everyone on the other side becomes nothing but pure evil. It's always amazed me that with all of the off the cuff statements, reactionary statements, and just plain trolling that Trump does, that his opponents have to make up stories and weaponize the law to get him. Yet, they still fail to stop him.

Could it be that maybe the other side has gone too far and offers so little in acceptable policy and rational viewpoints that even a bull in a china shop is preferable?

What's left is where we're at, one side is winning by default because the other side has gone so far off the rails. We're on to the next step....eliminate the opposition.

I hope this is the point where we all look in the mirror and stop this dehumanizing insanity. Killing is a bridge too far, and all the recent attempts have been one side, regardless of what the media says. It's well past time to stop this.

First off, Robinson was pro-Trump...

Second off, the proportion of right wing political violence is disproportionate in comparison with the left wing.

I spoke earlier about the media and opposition lying. This could not be a better example. Several prominent liberals started this "killer was a Trump supporter" rumor. It is now being reported. This is another left wing hoax.

They'll sooner censor social media than investigate SSRI's impact on mental health or the trans ideology being pushed on vulnerable children along with a cocktail of drugs that keep them ina euphoric state until post op and then they often become angry/depressed/regretful with their decision, prime mass shooter types.

Free speech has its limits which Charlie broke more than once.

Claiming that children dying in mass shooting at school is a small price for maintaining the right of the second amendment is absolutely one of them.

I am not a jurist, but I would consider the following closer to hate speech which is a criminal offense.
Another lie perpetrated by the left. What he actually said that in any armed society, some gun deaths will happen. Like traffic deaths come with roads and driving (not exact words but this is actually what he said with highway death statistics). This price is worth it to be able to protect our God given rights.

Where I think he was going is that without arms, we would still be a colony of England

- Lies in politics didn't start in 2016 nor is it a phenomena unique to one side of the political aisle, that's why all this ranting is nonsense. Suggesting so belies a truly deep ignorance, even naiveite about how knock down drag out dirty politics in this country have been since its inception.

What is unique about social media is that unlike traditional media power structures, the lies can come from anywhere and can take on a life of their own outside of the control of any major political party or mainstream ideology.

We had a very carefully managed democracy from the end of the 2nd world war through ~2012, and that broadly worked well for society. All the players knew their parts and our neo-liberal overlords more or less ran things competently whether Republican or Democrat, with relatively minor variations between parties.

Today it feels like the inmates are running the asylum because the craziest voices on the internet are often the voices that are most amplified, while the previous media power structure would magnify the most centrist voices and minimize nutty extremists. Now some right wing nutjob or purple haired single cat lady online can lead millions by the nose , and those millions of emotionally manipulated people vote...

I wish it was that easy.....the problem wasn't that one side was left or right. If I were to pin this on any one thing, it think it would be the lack of a work ethic. Think about it. Cronkite was as left as they come, why didn't he sound like the current media? He had some respect for his profession and took pride in his job. He was a newscaster, first and foremost, not an opinion pundit. Now entire news divisions idea of being honest is to lie as little as possible by reporting only the facts that fit one side. Add to that that the working class became more and more marginalized as the stock market rewarded the elimination of manufacturing in favor of a service economy, and you wind up with all the people with money having no idea what it's like to actually work for a living. Handing down opinions and edicts to the great unwashed.

In the battle between the washed and the great unwashed we started looking at people through a caste system, not unlike pre revolutionary France.

The people want their country back, and here we are.

All while social media battles to make pawns of us all.

Have you seen the killer's profile? He was certainly *not* a left winger... yet, here you are, vomiting nonsense on a tech website's comments section... Get a shrink before it's too late!

News is that his friends and family are all saying he was supporting left wing ideologies these past few years and that his live-in girlfriend/boyfriend that was transitioning is saying the same thing.

Kash Patel, and you can quote him from his appearance on Fox earlier today:
"My job as a FBI Director is not to speak to motive, is to speak to the facts and that is what I'm going to do. His family [the shooter] has collectively told investigators that he subscribed to left ideology and even more in these last couple of years. And he had a text message exchange; he, the suspect, with another individual in which he claimed that he had an opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and he was going to do it because of his hatred for what Charlie stood for.

Those are factual accurate investigatory findings by the FBI that we handed over to local authorities and the federal authorities to make their prosecutorial decisions. But I believe in this instance of such public importance the public has a right to know. And I told you I'm committed to transparency and that's what I'm doing here today."

It's important to understand the underlying data for this chart. Example: 169 of the 195 murders during 1995-2004 were due to a single event - the Oklahoma City bombing. A more accurate picture would be to depict the number of incidences or perpetrators to determine which "side" does it more. Without any other data, this chart only shows which "side" has been more efficient.

- I think we're all going to the same place on this one. The traditional news media has been forced to emulate the incredibly low cost high visibility social media "news" sites that deal fast and loose with rumors as facts etc.

Traditional media has been forced to adapt and become more "social media" like for the sake of remaining competitive and bringing in the moolah.

Information has to be quick, lacking nuance, and edited in such a way that it conveys its message to the viewer without sound in a 30 second clip that is going to be watched vertically on a phone.

I think ignorance and stupidity is a more likely root cause for this problem... along with weapons of course.
Has nothing to do with guns or weapons. Never has and never will.
What if he used a rock? We gonna outlaw rocks?
What if he used a hammer? We gonna outlaw hammers?
It's 0% guns and 100% discipline, something our society lacks.

They are solely responsible and anyone trying to deny is is a fool.

Free speech has its limits which Charlie broke more than once

Outside of threats, free speech only has limits if your trying to push an agenda and quiet the other side. He never broke limits, just challenged the narrative, pushed by left wing radicals.
I know virtually nothing about this person, aside from the 2 videos I did see he has some good points and bad points. I always find there are 3 sides to a story, your side, my side and the actual truth. I also find memory is fickle and peoples recollection of events and facts are so fu#$ing distorted that the difference between truths and lies are indistinguishable.
Charile's points were always backed by fact checked sources and irrefutable evidence. In 90% of his video's he cleanly won the debate. Whether its about the beginning of life (conception), biological reality, or government spending. To sit here and say that he needed assistance on a talking point sounds ridiculous and holds no water.
The reason the left hated him was because he beat them over and over with inarguable truth, and the left's idealogies are based on feelings, not fact.

- Bruh you're really living up to the image in your avatar.

TechSpot deciding to throw a little lighter fluid on the grill during a slow news day. Gotta hit those numbers with some tech adjacent rabble rousing.
In other words, "were not used to seeing information outside of our safe echochambers".

This is a perfect example of why the media is to blame by leaving out context. If someone asks you a targeted question "Is having freedom associated with the Second Amendment worth having some gun deaths occur including school shootings?" and you support the right to bear arms, are you saying you have to infringe on the First Amendment to do so? This is what you're suggesting.

But lies became rampant in the mainstream media since, depending on the topic. When you look at the actual source videos (which were never taken down) in which the media has used to label Charlie Kirk as racist or encouraging death of homosexual individuals, and the claims become questionable at best. Meanwhile Wikipedia, which has standards of which sources it can cite, includes these claims that can only be made if you ignore the context of the conversation they're in. Now you have the supporters of Charlie Kirk's assassination rejoicing because they were misled to believe he was an evil, racist individual.

Well said! I started watching a TV show called The Paper (a spin-off of The Office) that documents a fictional, dysfunctional newspaper company but I can't help but wonder if you can even call it satire when it's a realistic representation of the current state of journalism.

For reference, assassination from such a long distance is highly unusual. The vast majority of the recent assassinations listed here could have easily been committed with any weapon and were done at close range. And most of these were also due to organized crime: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_assassinations#United_States

-Well, we definitely agree that people should at least read and watch what Kirk said and stood for before forming an opinion.

Kirk was very solidly in the corner of a stratified, illiberal, elitist society and pushed this viewpoint through deeply fallacious public "debates" where made up facts and looking like he'd won was more important than actually debating in good faith.

That he promoted great replacement non-sense is as good a place to start as any:

The great replacement strategy, which is well underway every single day in our southern border, is a strategy to replace white rural America with something different. Show 159, please. 80 percent of the map is red, but that is only 20 percent of the American population. They hate that they don't live in big cities. They hate those of you that live in rural and small America. They hate those of you that own land and have guns and believe in a better country, and they have a plan to try and get rid of you.

The same way that Joseph Stalin went after the kulaks, they wanna go after you.

Charlie Kirk - 3/1/24

Can watch the clip with context here:

They are solely responsible and anyone trying to deny is is a fool.
This is the absolutely dumbest argument there is.

"The left" has nothing to do with this, it was an act carried out by one lunatic. If leftists had their way, Charlie Kirk would still be alive, because his killer wouldn't have had access to guns. The left has always wanted to prevent exactly this.

It's your side, including Kirk himself, that believes constant gun deaths are "worth it" to keep your moronic second amendment. Then he became one of those gun deaths. Died for what he believed in, how noble of him.

I hope that every time you look at your precious gun that you don't want to give up, you think "Charlie Kirk died for me to have this gun, and it was worth it." Think that every time there's a new school shooting too (I.e. every week). "20 children dead? So worth it!"
