Video problems using Skype-Lockups

I have a PC that is locking up when I try to use Skype in a video call. I have the latest driver for the program and 2 GB ram. The video capture device is a Legacy, but is WDM. I don't think that is supported by Skype, but can't get any support from them. Can I just download another video driver from the net and try???

What is your computers make and model number?

It is a pc clone that was built by a local computer company that is now out of business. I have a Logitec web cam and loaded the latest drivers as well.

What OS (Operating System) are you running? Have you installed the latest Adobe Flash and Suns Java programs?

It is XP home. I checked the direct x version and it 9.0
what are the latest adobe flash and Jave prog versions?

Do a Google search for "Java install" and "Adobe Flash install"... Is it XP Home Service Pack 3? If not, run Windows Update from your Programs list. Choose custom and dowload and install all updates found, especially SP3 if you don't have it already
