Videos are not playing with windows 10

I have been using windows 8.1 and when I would watch my recorded videos there was no problem. I had uploaded all my videos to my computer plus ones I recorded with the computer. I have not had any problem until I downloaded the new windows 10. Now when I go into my videos some will not play at all and others only show a black screen, but play sound. I did a driver update, but it did not help. I just want to see the videos of my children. I would like to transfer them to a disk but if there is a problem I do not trust that they will transfer properly. Why did my computer stop playing my videos after this upgrade?

You can be pretty certain that the video files are as they were so concentrate on the media player first. VLC Media Player is very good. Give that a try and hopefully all will be well.
