Vista: Editing avi file details

So I have a bunch of avi files on my computer and when I go to View->Details, I make sure that the year column is selected, and I try to click in that space to edit it, just like I would in say Windows Media Player, but I can't change it.

Is there a way to add the year to the properties of the file so it shows when I go to the details view, or do I need to download a program to do this, and if so, which one?

Sorry if this info is already out there, I tried searching and came up empty handed. Thanks for any advice.

I'm not sure if you can do this. As far as I know the only way to associate date with a file is through Date Modified and Date Created, both are not something you can just change...
