What CPU should I buy on a £100 budget?

Its 39-44 Temp is that ok ? Just wondering proper curious u no , that wire stuff made me nearly die lol :L

is that temp idle or load ? if its idle ...whats the load temp? and what are you using to monitor temps?
 
HWMonitor ... I been on cod4.. Since my last post.. Just checked Temps... Max is 41 ... Min is 39.. aint moving from 39-41 now.. GPU tem is 36 max and 34 idle ...

Are these all ok ?
 
That's good temps. The GPU seems to be running real cool. How??? :)

Also lemme know if GTA 4 works with that trick! LOL! :D
 
Lol I dno how it running that cool.. But this other temp on thing says 50 dont know what that is.. Not HDD, Cpu , or GPU... but dm.

Yh I mite install it 2nite or 2morrow.. Just enoying installing GTA.. U gotta edit ur system to sp3.. Get patches xd Den windows live for games .. etc xD

Im scared to try.. Its so buggy gta even ppl with good pcs moan about it :(

Hmm do you think my pc should be able play GTA IV? Loads of people play it youtube on lower system specs than mine :( Or there just lieing.

Im installing now but takes while sort it all out. So il post back later.
 
Arctic Cooling? Are you using a VGA cooler? Or some thermal paste?

And Ancell, change your system specs now. :)
 
Na sorry I ment IceQ Edition is my card.. I think that mite have something do with it ?

It says on the package.. Its fan also cools all the computer aswell not just its self. Its either a good card. Or my pc is cold lol. Na I aint got nothing added to it.. Just how it come :) .. I dont have side my case on. that could help a bit also. But this room is HOT so dout it.

Btw my cpu hitting 50c while installing GTA IV.. then went back down to 40c... Wot temp is high for a cpu ? and is 50c ok?
 
K am all done...

Installed GTA IV sorted graphics out.. Low looks terrrible on that game so obv I put medium/high..

Erm well good news.. no lag all plays fine.. Im a person who worrys a bit if you aint noticed.

So the graphics are ok games buggy anyway deff with shadows and stuf..

Benchmark was:

50fps.. I dont know if thats good fps for GTA IV ? Il google around if no1 knows.
89% CPU was working at.
67% System Memory
71% Video Memory

Cpu Temp After. 53c
Gpu 43c
This the high temp I said earlier.. TMPINO I dont know what that is.. but it was at 58c.

Is this ok ? Are these temps something to worry about?
 
K cheerz il try speedfan in a bit... Just was on GTA IV... minimized while playing checked temps.. CPU was 50 gpu around 44 and TMPIN0 was 60 but dont know what that is.

Il test speedfan soon :)
 
What were you using to monitor those temps? If it's HWMonitor the in my case the TMPIN0 gives the CPU temperature.
 
I was useing HWMonitor... Hmm.. Well when I scroll down it says E8400

Core0 39
Core1 39

Im try the one you said now.. And quickly compare.

What temp should I worry about ? 60, 70, 80. 90 ?
 
Speedfan is reading same temps for my cpu as HWmonitor... So this TMPIN0 and 1... I dont know whats going on here? Either the program HWmonitor is clueless.... Or bug....

I think I googled one of my answers.. On Tom hardware site it says:

Dual Core E8xx Series

-Tcase/Tjunction-
--70--/--75--75-- Hot
--65--/--70--70-- Warm
--60--/--65--65-- Safe
--25--/--30--30-- Cool ...


Tcase = CPU temperature
Tjunction = Core temperatures

The highest temp I have read so far is TMPIN0 which I still dont no what that is ?? Anyway that has hit 60 nothing higher as I no. I always check straight after playing.

Cpu core 1 and 2.. They hit around 51 53 highest.. Den drop back down around 40 idle.

Gpu never gets hot so far. :)

so are them temps above correct? When I see 60c I panic. xD But that says its safe mark. But also as I say this 60c is that tmpin0 which I dont understand. :S But if 60 is safe then all good :)
 
What CPU temp does your BIOS read? I think the TMPIN0 in HWMonitor and Temp1 in Speedfan both indicate your CPU temps. Those temps are fine if your CPU is at 100% load. At idle 46-47c is a bit too high.
 
73c is the max operating temp for the E8400, but 46c at idle is a bit warm like Rit said, i would def get an aftermarket HSF if your going to OC.
 
I dno aint checked bios reading but good idea.. Will try.. I really dont wanna spend no more money :( ..

BUT if my cpu dont blow up or overheat at 46-50 xD with in 2months .....Call of duty 4 modern warfare 2 comes out.. IF I get 125 fps on it.. Then I will buy a cooler.. and OC :)

Or if it gets to hot or I notice something wrong. but 45-50 is safe yeah? Not gna go burn out?
 
here is a thought you might try taking the heat sink off and reapplying thermal compound to the cpu after you have cleaned it obviously just use a small amount in the middle and spread it paper thin over the cpu the reseat the cooler.

Hey Ancell,
45-50c is not going to burn up your CPU, that temp is okay. i would just hold off OC'ing until you have an aftermarket cooler :)
