I clicked enter & the rectangle box disappeared, literally.
Do you mean you pressed the Enter key on the keyboard ?
Did you try the cmd in an Administrator Command Prompt ?

I know that's @DavidBailey screen shot. Didn't mean to confuse you. Way not answer Davids question.Did you use CMD with admin privileges? If not, it won't work. The enter key on your KB is right.(y)It takes a village to help you @learninmypcThat is NOT my screen shot.
I am NOT jerking ANYbody around, that is how you are interpreting it. I clicked start>run typed in the sfc /scannow & clicked the ok/enter button on the run thingy & it disappeared.Clicking is not the same as pressing a key.
Your responses are hard to understand.
All you have to do is look at a command prompt to know if it is or is not an administrator command prompt.
I could be wrong but I get the impression you are just jerking us around.
I'm trying my damndest to follow directions, it gets confusing at times.I know that's @DavidBailey screen shot. Didn't mean to confuse you. Even if I created a Linux CD, don't the pc have to be able to boot from it & if so, how the heck will I get this dinosaur to boot from it when I cannot even change the boot order? I have made it very clear I think I have tried many many many ways to change the boot order but it won't/don't work. I am CONFUSED as heckHi my friend. I have been following you here on the forum ever sense I registered here. You don't have me fooled one little bit.
I have worked with you on several threads and I really enjoyed it. You would like me do believe you know nothing about computers and I'm not buying that. You know plenty about computers. There's nothing confusing about sfc /scannow with Admin privileges. Your working with a dinosaur PC. There is no telling how many bugs it has. Create a Linux CD and run Linux.
I did it incorrectly, it is running nowDo you mean you pressed the Enter key on the keyboard ?

My bad, clarification. I went into safe mode with command prompt, typed cmd clicked ok, . typed in sfc /scannow & nothing happened so I right clicked the title line & in the drop down menu clicked defaults & that is where I got the picture in #47.Ok, I booted into safe mode withcommand prompt, right clicked & clicked default. Next step?
