What is C:\Document & ?

I don't know XP? If you don't see C:\Windows\system 32> sfc /scannow ain't going to work. Here's what My W10 looks like.

Both links are greek to me. I think its time for me to thank you for your patience with me & this dinosaur pc :)
My link mentions registry editing & I know I aint going there so I guess barring a miracle, thanks, I quit :)

Hi @learninmypc Here's a link that might keep you busy for awhile. Good luck!https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...665-1668-48e3-9075-bab29feb278b?page=1&auth=1
PS You will still need to figure out how to change the boot order.:D
But ??? Bear with me, I think it was F1 I tapped while rebooting, it brought up a blue screen with white letters & while being stupid & using the up & down arrow keys & stupidly playing around not knowing what I was doing, I think I changed the boot order to the CD 1st. I was going to PM a poster in here about his/her XP but I tried something & ended up downloading what I think is the 32 bit Win XP Pro OS. https://pcriver.com/operating-systems/windows-xp-professional-iso-download.html
IF I stick the CD in the XP Pro & reboot it, will it install the XP OS & then I go the the link you told me to have fun with & start downloading the MS updates????? :) :)

Hi My post was about free XP ISO files. Your link is also XP ISO files. Don't know what your asking. What I would do is create a back up image of the OS with a 3rd party image program, and then go for the install with the CD you created. Your link looked like W7 might be a option also. I like your link. My understanding is that MS no longer supports XP, so I don't know about the updates. You'll just have to try.Go for it!(y) Have you thought about Linux sense you have the boot order changed to CD/DVD?

Right now & for the next couple days, I would like to "try" to RE install the OS if possible. UNfortunately I had a disk that had XP on it with SP3 I think but I may of tossed it :(. If all else fails, perhaps Linux.
I didn''t look at your link too closely, maybe do so later. I'm hoping for a miracle , smoke is exiting my ears lol

Hi! Your link is better then my link for the ISO files(y). I just checked my link closer and a lot of the links are 404, meaning not supported any more. Good luck. What do you have to lose. It's been fun.;) Will wait for the next chapter.:D

Here's a Zip file I created using PSR and Macrium Reflect. Making OS backups is a piece of cake.

Pardon my "ignorance" but a piece of cake to one, is not to someone else. Sure, if one does them alot, thjey become easy.
Anyhow, 1st I need to find out how many CD's it'll take to back it up. My $$$$ is so limited it is not funny. No joke. :)

DVD's are about 50 cents a piece. You crack me up some times. Back ups are a piece of cake for even you @learninmypc I'm 79 years old and I learned.

@DavidBailey , I'll tell you what, Christmas is right around the corner, I'll PM you my address & you can buy me one because as I said, my income is small & I am not kidding!!

From Walmart.
You probably don't have a credit or debit card so you would have to walk to the store instead of ordering on-line. :(
