Windows 10 Product Key and Basic Saved Data

I recently had a PC, where I purchased and used a Windows 10 Pro product Key. For some reason that computer stopped working and I returned it and got a refund. Basically, I'm hoping they wipe out the whole computer data and stuff, but they asked for my login password because they needed to fix the issue by checking out various programs installed on my computer. I had no private information on that computer, or anything, and I deactivated my gmail and steam through another account. My only concern is, can you deactivate a windows 10 login using another computer?

Without having access or connection to computer you want to disable Windows login, no. If that account is Microsoft account, then yes.

Other than that, it's very easy to reset Windows login password if having access to computer so I wonder why they even ask that.
