Windows 10 surpasses 100 million installations

so let me get this straight... you think Linux helps you with privacy? What about google, facebook and your smartphone (plus many others)? Why do you even care that MS thinks every device is a mobile device now? I prefer to be cynical than to be ignorant. And depending on the distro you use, linux also gathers data.

You don't like advanced services that make your life easier? Then stop complaining and just use win 7. You gave the same data to others while smiling because of how cool the services they provided were and now you just jumped the hate train for win 10. Hypocrisy can be called a mental illness when taken to far.
Why do you assume so much but know so little?
First off I use Tails linux distro it is designed for anonymity. By default it uses Tor network to anonymise all internet traffic. Tails wipes all traces of your activity from the disk and uses top-of-the-line cryptographic tools to encrypt all files, emails and instant messaging. The latest release ships to camouflageand make it resemble windows 8. I only use Facebook with dummy accounts. Just tell us your a Microsoft fanboy and be done with it.
Wow, do you also use an umbrella whenever outside so them evil Microsoft satellites cant see you too? The paranoia is strong with you!!
As was already mentioned by Puiu, how else is Microsoft suppose to compete on a landscape that's shifted so much? As Nokia found out, it's adapt or die, or am I to assume you expect Microsoft to not make a profit and remain in business? The new landscape of business is all about the cloud, Saas, SOA etc. Microsoft is walking a very thin line trying to appeal to BILLIONS of people, its given that that at least a few of them wont be happy with some things, it is however remarkable that despite all of that they have managed to craft an OS that hits so many good points. Privacy on the internet is a fallacy for the most part, as if someone wants to know more about you and have the know how, they will find you. I would even go so far as to wager that the more you try to hide yourself, the more of an interesting target you make yourself out to be.

It's a really good OS and Microsoft have made the installation amazingly straightforward. Apart from those who've jumped straight in without following the recommended upgrade paths or were just unluck with a highly customised computer I'm sure most users are delighted. If Microsoft can come up with a successful range of phones running Windows 10 mobile they will be leading the field for quite a while.

Last time I chekced, game engines are C++, the majority of programs are C++. If you can prove otherwise I would like to hear and/or see it.

Just having a DX12 game doesn't mean much. If the Fable Legend benchmark results are anything to go by, it doesn't really do anything so far.

People could avoid using the internet or they could fight for their rights. I don't have a smartphone or use facebook myself but there's nothing wrong with criticizing microsoft. Windows isn't a product that needs to be sending all this information and you don't expect it to do that. People though that had a bit of privacy when on their home desktop. Smartphones and Facebooks have an excuse (albeit weak at times), what's Microsoft's for windows 10?
like I said before, JAVA is the leading programming language. Games are just a small fraction of the IT industry.
All of your bank software? it's java, All of your business oriented frameworks? It's java. All of the major business applications? it's java.
Java is widely used in academic environments, open source and in startup businesses it rules.
Don't confuse games with serious business where performance is not the focus. Please don't make statements based on "internet comments" knowledge. I didn't study for years C, C++, Java and many other programming languages (including most SQL languages, and web languages like javascript, php, html5, etc) just so that a gamer will tell me which one is better and which one is used more.

Want to know how a real large web application/site is made? Then try looking into things like Liferay and other portlet based solutions.

PS: MS excuse is that it was falling into irrelevance on the consumer market with laptops and PCs being replaced by tablets and smarphones with android and IOS. the ironic thing is that MS is being criticised of doing the same thing that the others were praised for. Apps that learn about you and give you results based on those findings? MS did wrong. Apps that use your location to provide you with better results? MS did wrong. Apps that did x thing? MS did wrong
I could continue but explaining it to someone who doesn't use a smartphone would be too hard and time consuming.

I was always told that C was the most important language to learn, since operating systems are written in C or one of its variants, and it's also valuable in the security field.

P.S.: Please use caps and periods correctly, it makes it easier to read.

Get off your high horse and stop assuming I'm a gamer. Apparently I'm the one out of touch, even though I just had a advanced programming paradigms class with C++. Oh, and the day before that I did Web Programming II with SQL and HTML 5. Java isn't even required to graduate, nor have any web design jobs I've done so far even required it. A PHP SQL stack is more than enough. When was the last time you even entered a formal classroom?

Once again, PROVE that there are more JAVA apps. You state it's used for applications like education but I've yet to even see one used at my school. Same thing for the E2CCB IT center I intern at.

I guess you would know more about the subject than a person who actually interacts with these things.

"I could continue but explaining it to someone who doesn't use a smartphone would be too hard and time consuming."

No, you really couldn't because you're too busy imagining the person I am, instead of providing anything factual.

It's not the cut and dry winner anymore but it's still the bread and butter for any Computer science student. It's not only about learning the language but C or C++ is low level enough where the programmer can get an idea of how languages work on a lower level and thus improve their coding skills in other languages.

Puiu believes that one does not to need to know anything but JAVA. The only problem is, you jump right into JAVA and you're going to be clueless on how the language works under the hood.

Exactly.

I did study assembler in college so I do know how a programming language works. a true programmer does not limit himself to just 1 language.
and we're not talking about which one you should use. it's just simple stats. It's Java that is the most important right now for any small or large business when performance is not needed. The rest use a variant of C.
