Microsoft charges you $100 for their malware, then steals data from your computer, deletes "your" personal documents with their updates, and sells what they stole to their "Trusted" partners, and you never get your data back

Wannacry attacked unpatched PCs and it costed ~$300 to get unlock key from hackers. How about that?
MS has provided the patches few months before the attack happened.
Previous malwares attacks always took victims of unpatched systems, e.g. Linux openssl heartbleed, linux shell shock, windows sasser, nimda, etc.
Windows differentiate security-and-bug patches and feature update. Never postpone the former one.

If you dont install the latest security patches, Linux is not secure too. You can check on Linux openssl heartbleed, linux shell shock, etc.

Same. I've got about 400 PCs under my watch and in the last 10 years, I've had maybe 2 issues with updates, and it only affected a single PC. I must have also gotten really lucky. =/

People finding their user folders moved/deleted though? That really sucks.

You must be running windows enterprise editions that are usually has slower updates than the personal home/pro editions, which results EE has less bug caused by new features.

We do not. 99% Windows10pro. It is a little (read:a lot) backwards here, but I work with what I got.
