I had almost exactly the same failures as you did, but after contacting the local MS-certified techguy, there were logical explainations to all of them.

However, he is not to be trusted, I'm told...

1. The Office Suite upgrade failed due to a lack of Office Suite itself. I did not need it.
2. The MS Office 2007 Security updates failed since I only used a Word 2002.
3. Silverlight was not updated because my computer wasn't powerful enough to handle Silverlight alltogether.
4. .NET framework 2 and 3.5 failed since my computer only needed the .NET 1.0, and dismissed the other two automatically.
5. The update for Windows Explorer 8 didn't work because I used it regularly enough for it to upgrade during usage.

And most of the other updates required the previous updates in order to update.

Maybe there is another reason of your failed updates? Like an internet-connection gone bad?
