Working Online (SEO, Blogging, IM)

Wondering if anyone else here works online, either doing SEO (Search Engine Optimization) blogging or IM (Internet Marketing). What all have you done that worked out well and what didn't, tips and tricks to improving the area (SEO, SEM, IM, Blog)?

I do SEO work for local businesses and have been doing this for a little around a year.

SEO is a dying art imo. Google doesn't use this stuff any more and does it's own indexing and keywords. There are some aspects that just make sense however, like page title tag should also be found as an H1, any meta keywords should be found withing the page.

Personally, I like to place the elements within the HEAD tag into its own external file and have the server include it when access, eg shtml or php include. I can change them without changing the timestamp on the page itself.
