Your Favourite All Time Band/Song

Since it`s already been mentioned elsewhere. I thought it might be an idea to bump this thread for our newer members. Well actually it wasn`t my idea at all lol.

Slayer/South of heaven. I even have it as my ring tone on my cell phone.

Regards Howard :)

My favourite song changes all the time, but at the moment it has to be Messin with the Kid by Rory Gallagher, actually, any song by Rory Gallagher except the acoustic romantic crap. Anyone who thinks Jimi Hendrix was the best guitarist of all time has to give this guy a listen, but I'm not saying he's better. He's Irish.
Edit: He WAS Irish. Rory Gallagher (1948-1995)

Yeah I used to love Rory Gallagher. It was a shame when he died, 1995 I believe, Excellent guitarist.

Hendrix was also one of the greats, but a completely different style.

Regards Howard :)

Megadeth- "Peace Sells"

Just about anything by RUSH, John Fogerty and Stevie Ray Vaughn......too many to list.

I`ve got every Megadeth album. I saw them once(1989) at the Birmingham NEC Arena. They were awesome. I`d have to say In my darkest hour, is probably my favourite song.

How many people here play guitar?
I'm just asking because I see a lot of great guitar bands mentioned and usually these are preferred by people who play, or are at least interested in guitars. I'm learning at the moment myself, any tips greatly appreciated :D To keep on topic though, I've just downloaded Free Bird by Lynard Skynard...can't stop listening to it!

I used to play guitar in a band many years ago. I don`t think I was ever that good really. The singer we had quit the band, so I ended up being the bands singer/guitarist, but stopped playing the guitar and just did the singing after a while.

We were a covers band doing stuff like deep purple/motorhead etc. We were very loud, which probably accounts for why I`m a little deaf now lol.

Talking of guitarists, I love listening to Joe Satriani. I think the guy is amazing.

Regards Howard :)

mars volta is a great band, was my favorite at one time (just needed to share that)..

although I do have a new favorite everyday..

today it's:
Fleetwood mac - Peacekeeper (live in boston version)

Lol, My dad loves joe satriani

I've seen them 8 times in concert in the US. I first seen them when they opened for DIO back in the mid eighties. Never heard of them before that night! Been a fan every since. Yeah...In My Darkest Hour was my fav as well. But since the doctor put me on Lexipro....my outlook has changed a bit! lol In My Darkest Hour is a pretty "dark" song!

Paranoid Guy.....I've been playing guitar for 17 years now. Been in several bands over the years. Don't really have the time for it anymore. With wife, kids and work and all.....

:haha: I've been playing for about 5 months, I'm in the biggest mess year in the world and I have time to burn. Still, if I hadn't done this year I never would've picked up guitar. I just bought Voodoo Child (jimi hendrix) My favourite song is now Hey Joe :haha: what can I say I'm fickle.

yep, jimi hendrix certainly knew his way around the guitar. i have 'the jimi hendrix experience' on vinyl, first record i ever owned.

:haha: Today it's "All Along the Watchtower" Does anyone know where I can get decent tabs for this?
I can already play the Hey Joe one, it was kinda easy but I reckon if I get tabs for this it will keep me working for a while.

Thanks Fiziks and Halo71 :grinthumb got a few variations, between them I'll work something out. I have to say so far the intro is really cool to play :D

is anyone else here a Bob Dylan fan? some of his stuff ain't so great, but "The Freewheelin'" and "Highway 61 Revisited" are among my most favorite albums of all time.

namely, "like a rolling stone" and "Tombstone Blues" are my favorite
