The newly released Atom processor is proving to be very popular among upcoming products. So popular, in fact, that Intel seems to be having difficulties keeping up with demand. Asus has stated that the level of demand for the Atom is so great that they expect shortages of the CPU to last until September. While Intel hasn't commented on whether or not this is true, Asus is one of the biggest customers of the Atom and would be directly affected by such a shortage.

This could result in products being delayed, particularly in the mobile sector. If a shortage was indeed to take place, companies like Asus and Gigabyte will fight for their share of what is available, which could ultimately translate into higher prices in retail for the short term.
