Toshiba has updated its Portege line with two R700 models (R700-S1322W and R700-S1332W) that pack built-in 4G connectivity, allowing road warriors to kick their USB dongle to the curb. The 13.3-inch featherweight ships with an integrated WiMAX modem for speedy broadband WWAN courtesy of Clear or Sprint. The service currently covers 54 cities with rollouts underway in plenty more, including New York, San Francisco, Denver, and Miami.

Both are about an inch thick and weigh as little as three pounds. The S1322W features an Intel Core i5-560M and a 320GB HDD while the S1332W ups that to an i7-620M and a 128GB SSD. Common specs include a 1366x768 display, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a DVD burner, an ExpressCard slot, two USB 2.0 ports, one eSATA combo, HDMI-out, gigabit Ethernet, 802.11a/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, and a six-cell battery offering up to eight hours of life.

Pricing on the Core i5-equipped machine is set at $1,349, while the i7 model is $350 more expensive at $1,699. Both are supposedly available starting today, but we haven't seen anyone with these exact units in stock. For what it's worth, you can customize an R700 with the same overall specs including WiMAX through Toshiba's online store.
