HP Reverb G2 Virtual Reality Headset marked down as low as $400

If you haven't jumped into VR yet, now might be a good time. The HP Reverb G2 VR Headset usually sells for $600 and is among the best there is. This weekend HP is marking it down $100, which is an okay price to opt-in to VR if you already have a capable PC.

However, you're going to want to wait until Thursday for this one because HP plans to do a flash sale slashing the price tag another $100 and bringing your cost down to just $400. That's the same price as Facebook's top-end Oculus Quest 2. Of course, you'll be tethered to your PC, but if that's not a problem, the Reverb should deliver better graphical fidelity than the Quest 2 or other wireless variants.

The Reverb comes bundled with two motion controllers, a 6-meter PC cable, a DisplayPort to mini-DisplayPort adapter, USB-C to A adapter, and a power cord. Be sure to check the specs sheet to ensure your PC meets the minimum system requirements before you lay down the cash.

Omen gaming laptops are priced as low as $900

As long as we're talking about gaming, HP has its entry-level 17-inch Omen gaming laptop discounted starting at $900. The last time HP ran a sale on this computer, it was marked down to $1,000. So it's an even better price point to break into laptop gaming.

The casual gamer (base) configuration comes with a Core i5-10300H and GTX 1660 Ti 6GB. It also has 8GB RAM, configurable to 32GB. Storage is somewhat lacking, sporting only a 256GB SSD, but that too can be upgraded all the way up to 1TB if you wish to pay a little more.

HP has two other rigs---Campaign Hero and eSports Pro---that offer a bit more gaming juice. The former has the same CPU/GPU combination as the Casual Gamer rig but bumps the RAM up to 12GB and upgrades storage to a 512GB Intel Optane (32GB) SSD. The latter upgrades processing power to an i7-10750H/GTX 1660 Ti combo with 32GB RAM with a 512GB NVMe M.2 SSD. The Campaign Hero starts at $1,040, and the eSports Pro is $1,390. Both have plenty of configurable options to suit your preferences and pocketbook.

All Omen laptops have the same I/O options that you would expect---one Thunderbolt 3 port, three USB-A ports (one with HP Sleep and Charge support), an HDMI 2.0a connection, and one headphone/microphone combo jack. They also feature Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5, NVMe storage, Thunderbolt 3, DisplayPort 1.4, and fast charging battery support. The fast charger can get the power pack up to 50% in around 45 minutes.

HP Spectre x360 13-inch Laptop dropped to $900 (or less)

If you're looking for an ultraportable two-in-one, HP's 13-inch Spectre x360 is one of the best ones out there. It landed an award in our Best Laptops of 2020 last year in the 2-in-1 ultraportable category. The Spectre x360 usually starts at $1,050. HP has knocked $150 off the price tag over the weekend, bringing it to $900 for the standard configuration.

Compared to last year's model, which sold for $1,230, this is an incredible deal.

The Spectre x360 packs an 11th-gen Core i5-1135G7 with Iris Xe Graphics, but you can take it up to an i7-1165G7 for an extra $180. This fold-over convertible has a very reliable and comfortable trackpad. Still, those working in graphic design will be just as satisfied with the HP Active Pen included with each unit.

The Spectre has superb battery life whether you use the standard FHD display or upgrade to the 4K AMOLED for $130. Other features include an HP True Vision 720p HD IR camera, a Wi-Fi 6/Bluetooth 5 combo with support for gigabit transfer speeds, two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, a USB-A 3.1 port, a microSD slot, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Save $100 off an HP Omen X 27 gaming monitor

Regularly priced at $650, this 27-inch QHD display features a refresh rate of 240Hz. It also supports FreeSync 2 HDR Technology for smooth, low-latency gameplay without screen tearing and with minimal frame-rate compensation. Throughout the sale, HP has its Omen X 27 marked down to $550.

Like the HP V28, the Omen X affords 300 nits peak luminance with a 1000:1 contrast ratio. It also has the same 28-degree tilting stand and VESA mounting bracket. It supports both HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.4 with HDCP support with cables included in the box.

At $550, it's not a bad low-priced option for a gaming monitor, but it's only being marked down until Thursday, so be sure you grab it before then.

The HP Envy 15-inch is only $760

For something with a bit more screen space, HP's Envy x360 15z convertible is an even better deal. Last year, this 15-inch 2-in-1 got marked down to $803, which we thought was a spectacular price for what you get. This year it is even lower.

For a decently powered laptop at a rock-bottom price, HP Envy 15z will only set you back $760.

The base model comes equipped with an AMD Ryzen 5 5500U and 8GB RAM, upgradable to a Ryzen 7 5700U with 16GB RAM for an extra $210.

The Envy's multi-touch FHD display is adequate for most uses. Last year's models were upgradable to a 4K UHD AMOLED, but that does not appear to be available this time around. Storage options are slightly more limited, with only 256GB or 512GB options. Connectivity includes a SuperSpeed USB Type-C 10Gbps port, two USB-A ports, HDMI 2.0, an AC smart pin, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.2 support.

As usual, Envy's keyboard and trackpad are excellent. Plus, the "unhackable" camera security system that shutters the webcam when not in use makes a return in this year's model, so throw out your black electrical tape.

The HP Envy 15z starts at $760 this weekend, marked down from $860. If you are patient and can wait until Tuesday, you can grab it for $730 during a flash sale. By the way, the 17-inch Envy is also a solid choice starting at $880, a 12-percent discount.

Grab HP's V28 4K 28" Monitor for as little as $249

If you find yourself needing a new monitor, the HP V28 is the best monitor deal of the sale. This 28-inch 4K display is usually priced at $380. HP is knocking $70 off retail throughout the Independence Day Sale, bringing it to just $310. If you want to save even more, there will be flash sales on Sunday, July 4, and Friday, July 9. On those two days, the price is slashed to $250. That's a $130 discount!

The HP V28 is an HDMI 2.0 monitor with a 60Hz refresh rate and FreeSync support. It has a 1000:1 contrast ratio with 300 nits brightness. It also has a low blue light mode for eye comfort. Its stand offers 5 degrees of forward tilt and up to 23 degrees backwards. If you'd rather put it on the wall, it includes a 100 mm x 100 mm VESA mounting bracket in the box.
