Adidas FWD-01

If you're looking for ideal in-ear workout partners, the big sound and not-so-big price is hugely appealing. So long as you can cope without noise cancelling.

Adidas’ first foray into the audio world has been a somewhat mixed bag. While it is clearly meant for running, and does quite a good job at it, its use elsewhere is rather limited, making it, in essence, a one-trick pony.

With these headphones, you will be able to hear ambient noise while jogging but this allows you to stay aware of your surroundings and keeps you safer. On the downside, the FWD-01 only has a water resistance rating of IPX4. In other words, it is only sweat resistant, so don't wear it into the shower. However, I like that it supports USB-C charging, instead of needing a proprietary cable for charging. Its very long battery life rating of 16 hours of playback on a full charge proves to be accurate in my testing.

For all its great design with conversation-starter fabric detailing, the drawbacks of a neckbuds design make it hard to justify such a steep price. However, for those who get along just fine with a shoestring dangling across the nape of their neck would get along just fine with the FWD-01.

The Adidas FWD-01 earphones deliver solid audio performance, but there are better-fitting, more waterproof models in this price range.

The Adidas FWD-01 are a solid set of running headphones featuring above-average audio quality and a lengthy battery life. But their bulky design may cause some fit issues, particularly during heated workouts.
