Razer Barracuda Pro

The Razer Barracuda Pro gaming headset sounds terrific and delivers a spatial audio experience second to none. And, thanks to dual wireless and wired connectivity, you can use it with just about all your devices. The headset lacks a dedicated boom mic, but the upside is the Barracuda Pro passes as a pair of premium headphones when you’re not gaming.

The Razer Barracuda Pro can do a little bit of everything, but it fails to really excel in any one area. It’s convenient to be able to have one set of headphones that can serve many purposes, but they really should offer more than so-so ANC when they’re standing next to the $200 SteelSeries Arctis 9 which make a far more spectacular show of flexibility.

There's active noise cancelling, ambient mode, long battery life, and a long-range wireless connection. A great feature set, then, but the Barracuda Pro is absolutely a worse headset than Razer's far cheaper, and better-sounding BlackShark V2 Pro.

The Razer Barracuda Pro is a well built gaming headset with good sound quality and active noise cancelling. The microphone quality and connectivity options are lacking, but if you can ignore those it's a great headset.

Despite what may seem like a generally bleak outlook on the overall audio performance of the Barracuda Pro, it's important to note that this could still be an excellent audio solution for the right person. If you're happy with using the headset with ANC off during gaming and ANC on for music, that's a big point in its favor. But, to justify that $250 price point, I'd say you'd need to use this headset for all of your audio needs.

The Razer Barracuda Pro are good for wireless gaming. They have low latency via their USB dongle, over 34 hours of continuous playback time, and can connect to Razer Synapse software for all your customization needs. They also support THX Spatial Audio for a more immersive audio experience, and their integrated mic has decent overall performance, so your voice is understandable, although it can get lost in moderately noisy environments.

Razer's Barracuda Pro headset offers active noise cancellation, strong spatial audio, and Bluetooth and wireless USB connectivity in an easy-to-carry package. Without a boom mic, though, its voice quality isn't particularly powerful.

If you're going to spend hundreds on a gaming headset, there's a good chance you might want to use it with more than one device, and for things non-gaming related like work meetings, long-distance travel and your daily commute. It seems many headset...
