Razer has taken its popular Huntsman gaming keyboard line-up and upgraded the setup to make it even more appealing.

The Razer Huntsman V2 combines innovative optical switches with quieter keycaps and gorgeous RGB lighting for a mild upgrade over its predecessor.

I think the improvement in responsiveness is marginal at best and only really relevant if you’re playing an esports-focused title at higher refresh rates. Then, when it comes to the Huntsman V2’s overall typing experience, it simply can’t match up to other similarly priced keyboards available elsewhere. It’s a very functional keyboard, but it falls short of matching this functionality with quality.

The Razer Huntsman V2 optical gaming keyboard is a joy to type and game on, while also offering a quieter mechanical experience for anyone who will use it around those less appreciative of the clickity-clacks standard to mechanical models. And though it does feature an 8,000 Hz polling rate, this feature isn't as relevant on a keyboard as it is on a mouse, and the price might put the Huntsman V2 out of reach.

The Huntsman V2 comes in with a bang when it comes to gaming performance. It offers exceptional speed, responsiveness, and enough customization to match any game layout or custom lighting scheme. Unfortunately, it lacks a standout feature to make it feel truly special, especially compared to the impressive first-generation Huntsman keyboards. Add to that a noticeable rattle under every key, and you have a keyboard that should have been great and is instead only good.

Refinements to the first-generation Huntsman are the name of the game, but even greatness can be made better and the Huntsman V2 is a stunning gaming keyboard.

But most won’t notice the 8,000 Hz polling rate, and there are no macro keys.
