The New Colossus never lets you forget who and why you're fighting. Nazi brutality is on full display, from the blown-out, irradiated remains of Manhattan to each of the resistance members, who all carry mental scars if not physical ones. You're never given a chance between cutscenes, missions, and even downtime on the U-boat to lose sight of the Reich's cruelty.

There are a few technical problems with Wolfenstein II, and occasionally the story gets a little too grim, but it's still a pure joy to...

Quite frankly, the game is a masterpiece. It hits all the right notes and at the right times. It couldn't have been any better. This is my favorite game of the year and one of the most enjoyable campaigns of my gaming life. It's not even close. The game...

The Wolfenstein series is certainly something very special indeed and when it was brought back into modern times with ‘The New Order' and ‘The Old Blood' it absolutely woke up an other wise stagnant First Person Shooter genre with a firm kick up the...

Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus isn't one of those first-person shooters which sets out to take the genre somewhere new, but it is absolutely state of the art.It looks fabulous, has a gloriously over-the-top romp of a storyline, is incredibly...

Even though the most memorable moments in Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus don't involve much in the way of player input, it remains a satisfying story-driven shooter that that eschews major gameplay updates in favor of a greater focus on its bold...

A far deeper game than its B-movie stylings would imply at a glance, Wolfenstein II also delights with its fast-paced, creative first-person warfare. Its tongue-in-cheek social commentary is heavy-handed, but there are few other games where mowing down...

Capping off a remarkable marketing campaign, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus delivers on Bethesda and MachineGames' promise of a brutal world full of Nazis just waiting to be slaughtered. The New Colossus was teased at E3 2016, but it wasn't until this...

Wolfenstein 2: The Old Colossus doesn't take long to remind us about the kind of game it is – It's ultra violent & fast paced, while still managing to create heartfelt moments among personable characters in an oppressive world. Building up on the...

It is frequently crude and half-baked, mixing fart jokes with oafish interpretations of trauma. But it is also both strikingly ambitious and a lot more intelligent than it often seems. What it needs now, I think, is a new lead and possibly even, whisper it, a change of genre. There is more to be said about a character like BJ Blazkowicz, but there is also more to be said about this universe - and our own - than is possible with BJ at the helm.

B.J. is comfortable killing thousands upon thousands of his enemies if they stand between him and a bit of peace. But killing isn’t all that Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus offers. It’s the rare first-person shooter that explores the first time its hero pulled a trigger; it’s the rare first-person shooter that is comfortable connecting with the primal, untamed parts of your brain while celebrating just how fucking good it feels to lay out a Nazi.

When I finished my playthrough, I sat watching the credits roll with a huge grin on my face, quite convinced I hadn’t played a better first-person shooter in years. I’ll keep coming back for a long time thanks to bountiful epilogue missions, plus an alternate-timeline playthrough that grants access to another side character, scenes, and weapons.
