Apple’s most affordable iPad models, such as the 9th- and 10th-gen iPads, have always been bestsellers. Thanks to perfectly adequate performance and sufficient storage space, this new model will also be a success. The lack of support for Apple Intelligence is a drawback, but there are plenty of alternatives from Google, OpenAI, and others that you can use to fill the AI gap in your life.

It’s not a particularly exciting update, and it lacks Apple Intelligence entirely, but Apple’s latest entry-level tablet still meets most iPad users where they live with little drama.

But that's life in iPad-land in 2025. At least Apple has kept a great affordable option in the mix for kids and people who just want something straightforward, and by skipping some of those extras, likely kept the price from creeping up. I appreciate that.

Starting at $349 and now with 128GB of base storage, the iPad (A16) is a great deal, no two ways about that. It's the perfect tablet for most people, especially those who are in the Apple ecosystem and aren't really concerned with the premium features found on the iPad Air or iPad Pro lineups.

Apple's entry-level tablet gets a solid upgrade, with a welcome boost to the base model's storage. It's a great option for watching videos, checking emails, surfing the web and more.
