Apple iPad mini 8 - 2026

Overview

The iPad mini 8 is the most significant upgrade to Apple’s smallest tablet. The thinner, lighter design makes it more portable than ever, while the new 8.5-inch OLED panel delivers stunning image quality for videos and books. Powered by the A20 Pro chip, it also delivers fast performance and more than all-day battery life. Though pricier and missing features like Face ID and a 120Hz refresh rate, it’s a first-rate iPad experience.

The iPad mini really is a fun and adorable device to use. If I had any talent for visual arts, it would be a perfect digital sketchbook and jack-of-all-trades device for consuming content or doing basic tasks. But in 2026, with consumer electronics prices continuing to surge, a more expensive iPad mini might be an even more niche device than it was before.

Apple's eighth-generation iPad mini is an enigma. It delivers iPad Pro-like power in a package that's barely bigger than some iPhones. It's a highly capable tablet that can handle tough tasks, as long as you don't mind the small screen and the high price.

An upgrade that actually feels like an upgrade. This refresh hits many pain points of previous iPad Minis, giving us a better display, more modern design and even some series firsts – like an IP-rated body. The price is high, but I can’t help loving the iPad Mini 8.

Fans of the iPad Mini finally get the update they've been waiting for, but it will cost them. This super light and thin tablet is a joy to use and features an OLED display with deep blacks and bright colors. The A20 Pro chip also supports a wide range of use cases.

Apple’s newest tablet has an improved OLED screen, a smaller and lighter design, and some new ruggedness. But $699 is a steep price to pay for an iPad Mini.
