Synthetic Performance

The superior memory performance of the Asus Crosshair III Formula translated into quicker Super PI calculation times. When making the 32MB calculation the Crosshair III Formula was 41 seconds faster than the M3A79-T Deluxe. Overclocking the Crosshair III Formula also helped to further reduce the calculation time.

The Asus Crosshair III Formula delivered our best CINEBNCH R10 result when using an AMD motherboard in both the OpenGL and multi-CPU rendering tests. Overclocking the Phenom II X4 955 processor to 3.70GHz did boost performance considerably.

The WinRAR results are heavily influenced by memory performance and for that reason the Asus Crosshair III Formula continues to impress. The multi-thread performance was considerably better on the Crosshair III Formula when compared to the other competing AMD motherboards.

The Asus Crosshair III Formula just managed to edge out the M3A79-T Deluxe in the Maya performance test. Interestingly the 3dsmax test appears to prefer DDR2 as both boards configured to use this memory beat the DDR3 boards. This meant that the Crosshair III Formula was slower than the M3A79-T Deluxe in this test.
