Benchmarks: Crysis 2, Dragon Age II
Like its peers, the HD 7970 delivered a barely playable 32fp when running Crysis 2 on Ultra at 2560x1600 – 9fps (39%) ahead of the GTX 580 and only 4fps behind the GTX 590. It was also 78% faster than the HD 6970 and it even managed to outmuscle the HD 6990 by a single frame per second.
Dragon Age II's results remain largely unchanged from most previous tests: the HD 7970 outpaced the HD 6970 and GTX 580 while landing behind the dual-GPU products – albeit with less favorable margins in most respects. Nonetheless, the new card gave us a respectable showing.
