Benchmarks: Aliens vs. Predator, Metro 2033
The HD 7970 rendered 37fps at 2560x1600 in Aliens vs. Predator, a 23% lead over AMD's previous-generation offering and a 16% jump (5fps) on the GTX 580. The card fared reasonably well against multi-GPU setups, scoring 18% lower than the GTX 590 and 26% behind the HD 6990.
Performance in Metro 2033 was also impressive as AMD's new card averaged 42fps, placing it 35% ahead of the HD 6970 and 24% ahead of Nvidia's current single-GPU flagship. Moreover, it was just 9% slower than the dual-GPU GTX 590 while trailing the HD 6990 by a 24% margin.
