Benchmarks: Battlefield 3, Modern Warfare 3
When testing DICE's latest military shooter at 2560x1600, the HD 7970 averaged 42fps, a whopping 56% faster than the HD 6970 and 24% snappier than the GTX 580. Even more impressive was the fact that this single-GPU solution was just 11% slower than the HD 6990.
Modern Warfare 3 and its aging game engine didn't provide much of a challenge for the HD 7970, even at 2560x1600 where the card averaged 77fps. Every product we tested provided playable frame rates, but AMD's latest card still landed 35% and 18% ahead of the HD 6970 and GTX 580.
