Dual Mobo information?

Anyone around here know of a web site where I can find information about doubling up motherboards, and the respective hardware?
I am basicly aiming to make an experimental computer with 2 linked motherboards. I like to start with single prosessor boards and eventually move to dual CPU boards. Yes I know there are 2, 3 , and 4 CPU mobo's on the market but they are to expencive for my budget at this time. Besides, the therory behind duel motherboards is to pool and share motherboard resources/CPU's and hardware.

Any and all information would be very helpful. Thank you. :)

I think you're refering to Clusters. It multiple PCs linked together but acting as one computer. In a certain way, projects such as the Genome project or the SETI project can be considered as one big Cluster.

There's a lot of info on it here -> SCL Cluster Cookbook

You can always go on Google & do a search on Clusters.

Thanks Didou! :)
I had a feeling thats what Clusters where, wasn't 100% sure though. I'll cheak out that site too. Thanks again.

For thoughs of you that are a little confused as to what I am talking about here is a link to a PDF file explaining.

http://www.stratus.com/news/analysts/arc0906.pdf

http://www.stratus.com/news/stranews/pcmag02.01.pdf

You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the link.

This type of setup is post-clustering or "next-generation high performance computing". Linking multiple motherboards together via direct hardware connections. Not multiple computers together to form a single virtual computer. Which I figured this was what I was looking for but ended up not being it. So thus my search continues. :) :p :D

Ion, this is good stuff. Thanks for the docs. It seems that in order to implement the servers described in the docs you posted, my guess is you'll have to buy one of those servers from Stratus.

No doubt they use standard Intel server components, doubt you can make them run in "lockstep" mode :D

THe SCL Cluster Cookbook keeps coming up as not found. Does anyone know of another site that might still have the information up & running?
Thanks,
-Jim.

I KNOW THIS IS FROM 3 MONTHS AGO, BUT ITS A GOOD TOPIC

if you are searching for google - this will produce less results but search this:
"Dual motherboard"
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q="Dual+motherboard"&meta=
or
"Dual motherboard computer"
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q="Dual+motherboard+computer"&meta=

WITH THE QUOTES!

And look, I managed to find a techspot post at the first google result ;)

https://www.techspot.com/news/4409-extrememhz-dual-motherboard-leviathan.html and then found where they found it.

TRY ME!http://www.extrememhz.com/e5ncInst1-p1.shtml

and whoever posted beowulf.org, thanks, but this is extended (also found on the google search)
http://www.beowulf.org/archive/2002-February/006147.html

and on the search "dual motherboard computer" I found this:
http://www.patentstorm.us/patents/5680536.html

and this:

**** thats our thread!
