XP STOP error 00000050 on shutdown

I am getting a consistent STOP error on Shutdown.

I get 00000050 usually, but did get 1 0000008e.

I saw kb article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903251

but I don't have any of the files mentioned.

I recently had to do a Repair ( XP no devices in device manager) but that has been resolved.

Does anyone have thoughts or suggestions?

Things are working, but when I do a shutdown to do a restart I get the Stop error.
