Just pre-ordered mine yesterday from Origin, too bad I missed the deal they had with dead-space 2 for free.

LNCPapa, I understand your concerns. However, I'm glad there is a company pushing another digital homefront for gaming. I love Steam, but, I like "competition". A lot.

Advanced beta opened last night. Don't know what resolution its using as it runs in a little window until Alt + Enter. But it looks really good. Prone makes a come back and I'm liking it a lot. Probably like it more when not everyone is playing recon and lying in a bush. At least they seem to have flash lights or reflecting sun on scopes as its a lot easier to spot them, actually seems a little over the top as it looks like every sniper has a maglite torch stuck to the end of his rifle. The environmental detail is nice, haven't seen much destruction yet other than a random tree or two but I think this game is going to be very addictive :)

Just thought I'd add in the performance information (running the rig in my System Specs link but at 3.4Ghz) I'd posted on the BF3 AMD Driver news post:

Outdoors in Metro level - 50-75 FPS
Indoors in Metro level - 75-120 FPS

1920x1200, All settings at top level of Ultra or High depending on setting.
    MSAA x 4.

Note that these were manual observations I made while running FRAPS and not low and highs recorded automatically.

That's comforting info about the performance Arris. I was wondering if I'd have to upgrade if I did decide to get this game... dumb Origin mumble mumble.

I have a feeling that performance is going to be markedly different from the multiplayer beta to the Single player retail release.

I have a similar feeling, even though it looks damned nice already, I think vehicles and larger maps might take their toll too.

yeah and betas a lot of times have missing textures, features, if not an entire graphics level. I am hoping that my setup is enough for Ultra @ 5760 x 1080 or 3240 x 1920, This looks like a game that will look/play very well on a multi monitor setup

    From the Bit Gamer article:
He did not mention what resolution he was referring to, but it's unlikely he was talking about a multi monitor resolution. more likely 1080P.

The rest of the article can be had here:

A game that might pull you away from playing nothing but Stalker mods? Wow, it must be looking good then ;) (just kidding)

:haha: alright! thats enough from you! I have been spreading it around a lot. i even picked up The Witcher 2 out of curiosity of the 'super sampling' that was impossible to run.

This article (http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,...cards-SLI-und-Crossfire-benchmarked/Practice/) suggests lower performance than what I've experienced. Will have to check the AF settings as I don't remember seeing them in the options. Maybe I'm running with no AF and that is why my FPS is high compared to these benchmarks. Then again in the SLI/Crossfire section they have a min fps of around the 40-50 mark so maybe my results aren't that much off.

well your working with a beta, I wonder if these guys have a different version. does your control panel look the same as theirs?
  12. Arris TechSpot Evangelist Posts: 4,308   +17

They are working with beta too, but no screenshot of control panel so can't tell. Will double check my AF settings and post back.

Is the beta actually up yet? its the 29th and almost lunch time here in the uk yet the Battlefield Site has not been updated to say its live and I cannot find a download in Orgin? Anyone else got the same issue?
  14. Arris TechSpot Evangelist Posts: 4,308   +17

If you bought Medal of Honor(or some other stuff) you got access to advanced beta, which started on the 27th.

So technically 29th should be full open beta, strange that it hasn't been listed yet.
But it's not going to be for long - "Dates: September 27th - October 10th"

    Cheers,

I'm glad i'm not going mental! so I guess I'll just wait?

    It's up for DL Burty.
  17. Burty117 TechSpot Chancellor Posts: 1,912   +89

Sweet! but where?! I can't find it?
  18. Arris TechSpot Evangelist Posts: 4,308   +17

Hmm just had a quick blast at lunchtime and with CF enabled was only getting about 50 FPS indoors. Never changed any settings, so will have to investigate what has changed. Unless the settings I changed weren't applied until game restart? Who knows.

Perhaps the +4 MSAA wasn't applied until a complete restart of the game. Will try turning it off at lunchtime and see if the FPS returns back to the level I previously had.

Would be easier to examine at a moar giant resolution.
