Encoding Performance

Although the Fusion APUs struggled to compete with the Core i3 in our application tests, it's a very different story when measuring encoding performance. In HandBrake, the A75M-ITX and A8-3850 were 9% faster than its Intel-based competitor, while the A6-3560 was only marginally slower.

The x264 HD Benchmark showed similar trends as the A8-3850 again outpaced the Core i3, this time by an 11% margin for the first pass test. Even the A6-3650 outpaced the i3 on the second pass.

The Intel rig garnered an edge in TMPGEnc v4.0 Xpress, taking 548 seconds while the A8-3850 took 613 seconds -- a 12% gap.
