2Cool PC Plus review

Installation

Installation of the PC Cool PC (Either model) is fairly simple. The procedure consisted of shutting down the PC. Open the case. Attach the Velcro tabs (6 of them – 3 attached to the case itself, the other 3 on top of them) to the inside of your case. The 2 Cool PC is then placed on top of the Velcro tabs. Now you have 3 Velcro tabs attached to the 2 Cool PC, & 3 to the bottom of your PC case, so it is firmly held in place, but can be removed if needed.

The unit was then hooked up with a Molex power connection to power it. The PC was then turned on, activating the 2 Cool PC.

Here’s a shot of the 2 Cool PC Plus once it had been installed into my system.

As you can see it is nicely positioned to be about level with the AGP slot. Although cards below that will also benefit from it due to only about 3/4’s of the fans output is being ventilated through the plastic cone, the rest is blown across the bottom of the case.

You may also notice it’s a small bit cramped in there with various power connectors/IDE cables & a few other bits. Although, this requires a like re-arranging of wires to get around, nothing major though.

Design

The main attraction of the 2 Cool PC range is the funnel/duct system which it employs. Basically this vents the air off to different parts of your system. 1/4 or so of the air is blown directly from the fan across the bottom of the case, the remainder is funnelled up the duct, blown across the case at about AGP slot – towards the motherboard.

The next shot is a side on version, once more showing airflow using the 2 Cool PC duct. Essentially any warm air in the case is sucked out by the cases exhaust fan (Warm air rises), while any cool air falls toward the bottom of the case.

As you probably may have learned in Science (or pretty much anywhere for that matter), warm air rises & cold air falls. Given the clever design of the duct this basically gives it the ability to cool all expansion slots to some degree.

Cool air is also being blown towards the RAM/CPU/motherboard also, as you’ll see later on in the results the temperature of the CPU & motherboard is reduced nicely by this system.
