Cool PC / Plus
My
System
The
2 Cool PC Plus was tested in my system, which consists of the
following internal components (Obviously I’ve ignored the
external components).
Testing
For
the purposes of testing this cooling kit I ran my machine,
both with the 2 Cool PC Plus on & off. The program used
for temperature monitoring was the Asus PC Probe which came
with the motherboard.
Here
are the CPU & Motherboard temperature without the 2 Cool
PC Plus active. These first set of results being from the
Pentium 3 450Mhz overclocked to 558Mhz (124Mhz FSB).

&
now for the results with the 2 Cool Plus active.

As
you can see both components are noticeably cooler, roughly
around 10% lower over the temperature with the 2 Cool PC
inactive.
This
next shot being of the Pentium 3 700E at 868Mhz (Again, 124Mhz
FSB). This first shot is with the 2 Cool PC inactive.

&
now for the same system with the 2 Cool PC active.
As
you can see temperature has decreased by a nice amount,
particularly that of the CPU, which has been overclocked. In
both instances, with the 2 different Pentium 3 CPU’s, my FSB
was 124Mhz which was the highest I could set it to (my RAM
being the problem when overclocking as its only PC-100). As
you can guess this temperature decreased improved stability
quite significantly. It should be noted that my system would
lockup after a while (particularly during games) when
the 2 Cool PC was deactivated.
Although
there are no 2 Cool PC tests here, only the 2 Cool PC Plus,
this was because the variation in temperature was, as you’d
expect a little bit higher with the non-Plus version. That
said I firmly believe that if you are considering purchasing
one of these you would go for the Plus version, or perhaps the
new Turbo
model.
