Heat Monitoring

This is the section were the Alpha P3125 really shined. The fins were barely warm when I touched them. I had my external thermal probe and I was ready to tell just how good it was. Here is the spec on my current system to give you an idea of just what is also generating heat.

  • Pentium III CPU overclocked to 600MHz
  • Abit BX6 r2
  • 1x 128MB Siemans PC125 RAM
  • 1x 64MB Siemans PC125 RAM
  • 1x 32MB Siemans PC125 RAM
  • Western Digital 27.3GB Hard Drive
  • Abit Hot Rod 66 HD controller
  • Creative Labs 48X CD-ROM
  • Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live Value
  • Creative Labs Annihilator GeForce 256
  • NEC Floppy
  • Zoom 56K Internal Modem
  • D-Link NIC
  • 250W Power Supply with fan blowing air out
  • Fan in back blowing air out
  • Fan in front blowing air in

I decided to play a game of Quake 3 online while waiting for the thermal probe to measure the peak value. The probe was placed as near to the actual core of the CPU as possible.

3Dfx Cool Alpha P3125: 118 degrees Fahrenheit

Average air temp inside the case: 93 degrees Fahrenheit

It has been proven again and again how well the Alpha cools. This is just another example. The Alpha P3125 cooler provided by 3DfxCOOL cools the Pentium III better than anything else out there.
