I was pleasantly surprised to see how well this cooler had worked in giving me speeds that would once instantly give me lockups with the standard cooler, so I did a comparison between the temperature that would build up with the standard Creative Lab’s unit and TennMax’s unit. I’ll give you a basic run down on what my system consists of in order to give you an idea of what else is giving off heat.

The tests were run with a room temperature of 73 degrees Fahrenheit. The temperatures were recorded with a very tiny diode probe hooked up to an external LCD display. The diode probe was taped against the backside of the heatsink. I recorded the temperatures after running a 15-minute Quake 3 Arena demo loop.

TennMax TNT2 Detonator: 99.3

Conclusion

The TNT2 Detonator is a very good cooling alternative to the laughable solutions that some board makers place on their boards. As you have seen by reading my review, thermal compound does help heat transfer a lot. The TennMax TNT Detonator is excellently assembled into this tiny, lightweight package, perfect for video cards.
