Product:
DMP-110 MP3 player
Features & Design
The
most important thing D-Link has done with the DMP-110 is
trying to correct everything that didn’t do too well with
the previous DMP-100 player. Maybe the most relevant addition:
USB support.
If
there’s something I love about MP3 players is the little
time it takes to change songs out from my MP3 collection.
Sometimes I use my MP3 player for listening music on my car,
although that’s not the specific purpose these devices are
made for, the ease and little time spent on changing songs
everyday to drive to work makes it perfect. So we are talking
of a lot of versatility here.
The
size of the player is similar to that of the rest of the
players, more on the small side, which is a good thing. The
DMP-110 includes an EQ with basic functionality, it comes with
five different presets: Flat, Classic, Rock, Jazz and H.
Metal. EQ information is shown in the screen all the time and
is accessible directly from a button.
One
of the most unique features the DMP-110 player boosts is voice
recording. By including a built-in microphone, you can record
voice or whatever you want on your player, quality is really
good and I found it very cool to play with, as you can hear
what you record immediately. With the DMP-110 you can switch
from MP3 to DVR mode and hear everything you have recorded,
each time you record, the file is saved on a different file,
and of course, you can download those files to your computer.
As
a proud owner of a Diamond Rio 500, definitely one the best
portable MP3 players out there, it’s easy for me noticing
all those things that could have been improved on the current
DMP-110 player.
The
design isn’t bad but it’s far from being user friendly,
there is no way of browsing through the songs you’ve got on
memory other than skipping and going to the next song. Also,
the LCD screen isn’t as “informative” as they claim,
although it does show volume level and time of play, they
missed something really important, the name of the song or
artist aren’t displayed at all, I think that’s a must-have
feature on a MP3 player.
My
last complaint on the LCD, maybe not as important as the one
before, but having a backlight is really useful for low-light
situations, no matter how much battery it could consume, is
another great thing to have on a portable player.
