Nero OEM
Software Suite
The intentions of this review are not to
cover the entire Nero or Roxio suite. One could probably
write a 20-page review on them and just touch on half of the
features these burning utilities have to offer. What I did
was take several screen shots of each to give you an idea of
what types of options are available with the program, and a
little explanation of each screen shot.

This is the welcome screen, you see,
‘Welcome to Nero’.
For those of you who actually back-up
their data… With a DVD Burner (with gigs to spare in every
disk), you will no longer have an excuse for not making
backups. These drives can also burn DL media, remember.

I NEVER use this to burn illegal MP3’s,
I swear.

Here you can burn your home videos, just
make sure you lock them up when you are done.

Some people use this to burn backup .iso
files, but not me.

In the upper right hand corner you have
the option to either use DVD media or CD media. The colors
are also adjustable to meet your particular needs, default
is red. I hated red ;).

Here is a quick look at the burn data
screen. As you can see, the program shows a very easy to
follow interface. Way to go, Nero.
Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.0
Before I started working in this review,
I was already a big fan of Nero’s latest software suite,
however after loading up and using Roxio’s Easy Media
Creator 7, the competition became more intense. Roxio’s new
software suite looks great, offers a tremendous amount of
features, and rivals Nero’s in the simplicity department.

Easy Media Creator has a very clean,
sleek look. This is the first screen you see when you launch
the program, and each link directs you to that particular
application. Roxio did an excellent job of keeping looks
neat, and making menus simple to use. When it comes to these
programs, ease of use is probably number one on most folks’
list.

This is the DVD copy interface. There
are two different interfaces you can choose from. This is
the panel with advanced options turned on.

And here’s the basic interface.

This is what you will see if your
intentions are an MP3 disk, audio CD, or a data disk. Drag,
drop, and burn.
Overall, I was impressed by both
programs. I know this is a bit inconclusive, but I
personally believe you will not be disappointed with either.
They both offer about the same options, and both do the job
well.
Both, Plextor and NEC drives came with
Roxio’s suite, while LG’s came with Nero.
