It’s difficult writing a review about a
product that can only be benchmarked literally by the eye
and one’s taste. As you have read, I think this monitor
looks amazing. The only thing that I can say negative about
the display quality is that the colors do not look as
brilliant as they did on my CRT. This is a characteristic of
flat screens, but it’s still worth mentioning when we are
talking about a product of this caliber. This would not
deter me from purchasing this product though, because it is
very slight.
The other thing we need to discuss is
how the package looks externally. If looks could kill, I
would be dead already. That is all I can really say about
it.
Quality is one other issue that is going
to be of utmost importance when shopping for a new display.
The L2320A and its related systems seem to be of very high
quality, even the remote control. I have used several LG
products in the past and I’ve had good experiences with
their optical drives and cell-phones. Now, I only used this
monitor for one month, so I cannot attest to the longevity
of it. Thankfully LG does include a generous 3-year limited
warranty on parts, labor and backlights.
The overall value of this product is the
last thing to address, and I left it as last for a reason.
The Flatron L2320A package is approximately $2,500. The
price is a bit stunning to some of us, blue-collar workers,
but this doesn’t mean that it’s not worth it. There are
other 23” flat-screen monitors out there selling for about
$1,500, but these do not include media stations or the
wealth of features the LG product has. So while the product
is quite stunning and innovative, its price tag is even more
stunning.
If you are the kind of person that buys
things as the technology hits the street and are looking for
a total media solution, then this one is for you. No other
package that I have encountered offers what this one does. I
think every desktop will eventually work as a media station,
but I also think that once the ball gets rolling, the prices
will start dropping. If you are more of an average user but
still dream of a gorgeous display without all the options,
then you may opt for a less expensive option.
